Chapter 67 - Chapter 67: Threads of Fate

Wandering the New Realm

After stepping through the Void Corridor, Yang Kai found himself standing amidst a vast swamp. The air was thick with moisture, and the ground squelched beneath his feet with every step. As he absorbed the World Energy that flowed freely around him, his thoughts turned to the companions he had been separated from.

Yang Kai (thinking to himself): "The corridor was chaotic... we've all been scattered."

But despite the separation, Yang Kai remained calm. He had expected as much. He had seen this sequence of events play out before, in his previous life. Fate, it seemed, was once again guiding him down a familiar path.

With calculated precision, he began to make his way out of the swamp, guided by his knowledge of this realm. His experiences gave him an edge—he knew the territories, the cities, and the factions. And it wasn't long before he reached more solid ground and saw the distant walls of a city.

Entering the City

The city ahead bustled with life, its streets crowded with cultivators, merchants, and workers. As Yang Kai stepped through its gates, the air seemed lighter, the energy more organized. The city served as a hub for various sects and groups, a melting pot of power and influence.

He wandered through the streets for a while, his eyes scanning the faces around him. Despite the crowds, Yang Kai was focused—his mind already working through the possibilities of where to go next. The more he walked, the more certain he became that this was the right place to regroup and prepare for the challenges ahead.

It was then that he spotted a familiar face.

Yun Xuan, the leader of Bold Independent Union, stood among a group of cultivators near the marketplace, her presence commanding attention. She was in conversation with several others, her voice calm yet authoritative. As Yang Kai watched her, memories from his past life came rushing back.

Yang Kai (thinking to himself, his expression contemplative): "So, it's her..."

He remembered how events had unfolded in his previous life—their encounter, the mission to the mines, and the impending danger of the Charm Monster. He couldn't help but feel that fate was once again placing him on this path. But this time, he was stronger, more experienced. The question now was whether to follow the path laid out for him, or to forge a new one.

Reflections on Fate

For a moment, Yang Kai hesitated, his thoughts drifting to the strange dreams he had been having. Dreams of breaking free from the fate that bound him to Yang Kai's original destiny. Was this one of those moments? Was he meant to challenge fate here, to change the course of events that had played out before?

But as he watched Yun Xuan from a distance, he realized that this might not be the time to deviate too drastically. Changing too much too quickly could lead to unforeseen consequences, and he had already learned that fate had a way of correcting itself if pushed too hard.

Yang Kai (thinking to himself, resolute): "It's not wise to challenge fate so drastically. I'll follow for now... but I'll keep my own path in mind."

With that decision made, Yang Kai began walking toward Yun Xuan, ready to let events unfold as they had once before.

Meeting Yun Xuan

Approaching the group of cultivators, Yang Kai remained calm and collected. He waited for an opportune moment before stepping forward and addressing Yun Xuan.

Yang Kai (politely): "Excuse me, I couldn't help overhearing. You're looking for people to help with a mission?"

Yun Xuan turned to face him, her gaze appraising. She didn't recognize him, but there was something about his demeanor that caught her attention. She nodded slightly.

Yun Xuan (calmly): "Yes. We're heading to the mines nearby to hunt some Metal Devouring Beasts. We could use capable hands."

Yang Kai (nodding, smiling slightly): "I've dealt with those beasts before. I'd be happy to help."

His words were true, in more ways than she could have known. In his past life, Yang Kai had fought those very beasts, and he knew what was coming next. The Charm Monster, lurking in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to strike.

But for now, he would play his part. He would join her mission and let fate run its course—at least until the time came to act.

---

The Mission Begins

It didn't take long for Yang Kai to be welcomed into Yun Xuan's group. As they made their way out of the city and toward the mines, he observed the others in the group. They were skilled, but none of them had the strength he now possessed. He was at the Peak of the Transcendent Realm, far stronger than anyone there, including Yun Xuan herself.

Yang Kai (thinking to himself): "This will go just as I remember... but I'll be ready."

The group's task was to capture the Metal Devouring Beasts that had been causing havoc in the nearby mines. As they moved deeper into the caverns, Yang Kai could sense the familiar presence of danger. The Charm Monster was near.

He tried to warn Yun Xuan.

Yang Kai (quietly, but firmly): "There's something else here. We need to be careful."

But Yun Xuan, confident in the skills of her team, dismissed the warning.

Yun Xuan (shaking her head): "You're worrying too much. We've checked the area. There's nothing else here."

Yang Kai didn't press the issue. He knew what was coming. And, just like before, he would wait for the moment to act.

The Charm Monster's Appearance

As the group worked together to subdue the Metal Devouring Beasts, the atmosphere in the mine began to shift. A dark, sinister energy filled the air, and Yang Kai felt the familiar presence of the Charm Monster approaching.

He stayed calm, knowing that his strength far exceeded the monster's. But the others, unaware of the danger, continued with their task, oblivious to the threat.

It wasn't long before the Charm Monster made its appearance, a grotesque figure that radiated Spiritual Energy so powerful that it could manipulate the minds of weaker cultivators. The air grew thick with tension as the monster's influence began to spread.

Yang Kai (thinking to himself, preparing for the battle ahead): "It's time."
