"I understand you've been exhausted since your exams are just around the corner, and that's why I let you sleep all day but you can't skip on meals. Get up and don't make me come for you again", exams' exhaustion? That sounded chucklesome to the professor who was grinning ear to ear under the cover for her mom mistaking last night's hangover for forthcoming exams.
When the other students would be biting their nails in tension, had imprisoned themselves in their rooms in hopes to digest all the books in one night, cropping up as dweebs on the spur of the moment, the professor was on chill pills, casually going through the content. Exams had never been the end of the world for her, the experiments and undertaken inventions, however, were.
When the girl heard her mom's steps fading away, she loosen the grip on the blanket only to let it come in contact with her face as it was stretched tight before. She allowed the sleepiness to tuck her into dreamland slowly for one more time.
"You want your mom up here for you again?", her dad's soft, caring voice stirred the girl as she felt the mattress to her side right sinking down.
"After your university is over, I was thinking why don't the three of us go on camping?", the word 'camping' hit the girl like a bolt of lightning, striking her with billions of charges, waking up the sleepyhead. Pushing the blanket furiously, she shifted into a sitting position.
"Really! Can we!!!", wishfully looking into her dad's eyes, she clasped her hands together, her voice just as louder as the man had expected.
"Why not and keep it low, princess. Your mom wanted to give you this surprise which isn't a surprise anymore", overlooking the second part of John, she beamed in extreme joy and threw her arms around her dad.
"Now that you already know, you have to play along and pretend that you were totally clueless when she tells you about this", John had no plans of dropping the bombshell himself but when he entered the room and didn't see any signs of her daughter waking anytime soon, he couldn't see a way better than this.
"You're asking me to lie to mom? And if I don't, she will make you sleep on the couch", pulling away from the affectionate embrace, the girl teased her dad playfully.
"Well, I'd be only sleeping on the for a day or two, I know my love can't sleep without me but you would be grounded for a month from staying out till late nights after she finds out that you didn't only come home knocked out last night but through a cab, if I were to speak the truth here", Scarlett's eye's widened, lips partying in utter surprise.
Was her dad blackmailing her? And how did he know? Then, the reality dawned on her. Her dress. She stayed concealed in the blanket when her mom was talking to her. The camping got her too that she jumped out from under the cover, forgetting that her dad was still there. Even so, this did not explain how her dad knew that she was driven by a cab driver?
"Dylan called me last night, asking if you had reached home safely since he couldn't drive you back because he had to leave in some EMERGENCY which didn't make sense why he lent you his car as he claimed to be, having me finding out the made-up story", the boy intentionally highlighted on the lending car part, just to assure the professor's dad that he didn't let his daughter ride with a stranger when he should have to be the one driving her back.
In the morning, finding only his and the girl's car parked in the driveway, he concluded that she didn't drive the car but was driven by someone else.
"Faggot", the girl crossed her arms against her chest, lips forming in a pout. How thick her friend could be? Why did he even call to check on her in the first place? Wasn't he supposed to be busy with that handsome guy?
"I believe our secrets are save with each other", John smiled at her daughter whose pouty face took the man back to the time when the girl was six years old, huffing and making a face while stomping into her room, refusing to talk to anyone if something to her disliking happened.
"Aww...daddy wasn't being a meanie. It's just that we have come a long way but I still can't stand your mom getting angry with me", this was what writers wrote in their books, true love.
The love that doesn't get old when you age. It remains as young and fresh as it was felt for the first time. The love that knows no age gap, no cultural, language, family, religious differences. The love that doesn't vary from gender to gender. The love that makes you restless while being away from the one you truly love.
The love that makes you feel broken when it's taken away from you. The love that makes you feel whole again. The love that only grows stronger. The love that gives you feelings of warmth and protectiveness. True love. The couple had spent years together, their feelings were still the same for each other. Pure and strong. Eloquently devoted and unbreakable.
"I want someone to love me with the same passion you love mom", the girl paused for a moment before continuing the next part which she knew was going to earn a speech from her dad. Untangling the blanket from her legs, she stood up.
"But I don't want to be treated like a princess. It seems cheesy and old-fashioned. I want him to treat me as a bad bitch."
"Scarlett~~"
The girl giggled before disappearing into the bathroom.
