Chapter 11 - The strange place

I opened my eyes.

In front of me was a sea of blood and corpses. Corpses of women, children, weak starved men.

All lying there slowly rotting away.

The stench of decaying flesh had filled this room I was in.

The walls were all seemingly made of rocks.

It seemed as if this entire place had been carved out of earth. Possibly some mountain.

There were pipelines spread all over the titanic ceiling over my head.

I looked around, hoping to find some clues.

I really did not like this place.

The first thing I noticed were the corpses.

They all had this vivid purple color on them.

Some had their eyes stringed to their skulls with neurons in a disgusting fashion. The eyeballs were hanging out of their respective place within the socket.

Almost as if someone had gauged them out of there.

Some victims had their eyes stitched close along side ripped ears and torn nose.

As I kept on moving towards the only exit I could see on the other side of this room. Things started to get more and more bizarre.

There was this one corpse which was seated at the edge of the wall near a pipeline attached to it with drilled nuts and bolts.

This corpse had soggy skin, indicating it to be of someone old. It belonged to a woman.

The reason it took me so long to comprehend what I was gazing at was because of the absurdity of what I was looking at.

The corpse had no clothings to cover it.

On the bare body where a woman's head should have been resting was nothing.

Blood poured down like a stream of cold water flowing down the terrain.

As the blood flowed down, it was joined by more blood streams.

Her breasts had been cleanly and completely removed from where they were supposed to be.

Blood poured down towards her pubics only to be met with more of it as it all flowed to the ground.

On the ground facing towards her body lied a head.

The upper half of the head was still no where to be found.

Only parts of forehead were there.

Her brain matter was spilling from behind.

The expression the head wore was not of fear or despair. But of delight and joy.

When I looked at it I could not believe my eyes.

I felt a sense of suffocation that had taken over my sense of self and my inherent will to survive.

All I could think was how?

Without wasting much of my time I moved on.

Only to encounter similar corpses seated randomly in my way.

Corpses of little 8 yearold innocent boys. Some headless, some bashed and caved inwards, while some completely torn and shredded, lying there, piled up one slice of meat over the other.

At this point I stopped really giving a thought to anything I was seeing.

I kept on moving slowly towards the gate.

But for some reason i don't know about.

The door just stayed out of my grasp.

It was as if, the facility itself moved with me.

With a long walk which felt like hours. I managed to get to the gate.

It was enormous, heavy and cold.

It seemed just impossible for me to open it up and get out of this hell I was in.

I kept on pushing it, trying my hardest to get it to open up,

But it won't even budge. Rest alone open.

I stayed there for hours but nothing happened.

When I finally decided to give up. Something happened. As I turned behind in order to find another escape route.

I heard footsteps.

As I turned, behind me the gate flung open.

I almost thought they would hit me. But somehow they didn't.

Now looking back at it, I feel that I would have been lucky if that had been the case.

In front of me stood a horde of men, all armed with weapons. They all wore traditional army clothing. The only difference was the lack of any kind of national military symbols for me to know exactly who these men were.

And to top it off, they all spoke in unison in a very weird way. Almost artificial.

They all looked at me and gave me a cold gaze. Then the one in the centre said, ' 2307-what are you doing in the farm disposal grounds?'.

And that's when it really occurred to me.

I was a prey and in front of me were the predators.
