We reached the cinema and got our tickets. Looking around, the place was filled with people of all ages.
I noticed that there was something like a stall to a corner that was selling some kind of food and drinks. On one side there was a small transparent tank that was full of white, flake-like snacks. On the other side, there were different kinds of multicolored snacks with different shapes that looked like plastic.
Supergirl: Someone caught your eye? That lady behind the counter keeps stealing glances at you.
Voranis: Huh? Does she need something from me?
I put a strand of hair behind my ear, which had become a habit of mine and asked.
Supergirl: Nope! Nothing at all!
She smiled.
"Strange...anyway!"
Voranis: What are those white flakes?
She turned to where I was looking.
Supergirl: Ah you mean the popcorn? When corn is heated, it pops and looks like that. It's pretty tasty if you want to get some.
"Oh so it's called popcorn."
Voranis: No, I don't really want to eat anything after my smoothie so maybe next time.
Supergirl: Yeah, my thoughts exactly.
We took our seats in the middle rows of a large dim lit room. Whispers could be heard here and there but everyone went silent as the movie began.
I had to admit that the movie was entertaining though I found myself unconsciously stealing glances at Supergirl who was sitting right next to me a few times. The reason for that eluded me but I would get to to the bottom of it.
I also learned a lot about Earth's customs and interactions between Terrans from the movie.
Voranis: We should go for a drink sometime. It looked like it would be fun!
I spoke excitedly while we were walking away from the cinema.
The moon had already replaced the sun in the sky but it's brightness made our walk quite enjoyable.
Supergirl: Sure, but don't expect it to be the same as the movie.
That information didn't deter me in the slightest.
Voranis: That's no problem, we'll have our fun!
Supergirl: You bet we will!
We bantered about random things for a while but after that we walked in silence, until I remembered something.
Voranis: Oh right! I saw you flying from outside the city yesterday. Did something happen? A world ending event or two?
She smiled at my joke but didn't look happy.
Supergirl: Everything's fine, it's just that a very close friend of mine had a fight with the one she liked. They weren't a couple but he left after the fight and she was feeling pretty bad about is since she thought she was responsible for that. I was. with her since Sunday morning and I guess that's when you saw me.
"I have no idea as to what am I supposed to say after that!"
Voranis: I'm sorry to hear that. But you know, they say fights need two people to happen so...ehm...she shouldn't blame herself too much.
I blurted out without thinking.
Supergirl: Well...these things happen and I'm sure she's going to be fine since she's a strong woman!
Voranis: I see... Having friends that believe in you is nice.
The situation became so awkward that even I had noticed.
Voranis: So Supergirl-
Supergirl: Please call me Kara!
She chimed in as we stopped walking and locked eyes.
Supergirl: That's my actual name, Kara Zor-El.
I smiled.
Voranis: Thank you for trusting me with your name.
I said while noticing the uncertainty in her eyes. Then my smile turned to a grin.
Voranis: Mine is Voranis, but I'm sure you already knew that.
Not expecting an answer like that, she couldn't help but laugh.
Kara: Nice to meet you Voranis!
Mirroring my grin, she said in an silent tone.
Voranis: It's nice to meet you too Kara!
We both giggled like children at our antics.
Voranis: So Kara, as I was saying before, would you like to go for a drink? Perhaps this Friday?
Kara: Yeah, I'd like that. Maybe around 9?
Voranis: It works for me! How about I come pick you up?
Kara: You have a car?
Her eyes widened.
Voranis: No, what for?
She snickered at my question.
"Did I say something strange again?"
I pushed a strand of hair behind my ear.
Kara: It's nothing, forget it. Walking sounds better, so why not, you can come pick me up.
I got her address and we continued walking
Kara: Oh right! I don't think I can make it to the library at Thursday. I have mandatory training but it won't be that bad, I'll see you the next day.
Voranis: It's ok, I can't hog you all to myself!
We reached the point of divergence in our paths.
I offered to escort her home, not that she needed it, but she told me that she'd like to fly for a bit.
Voranis: I had a wonderful time today, thank you!
Kara: You took the words right out of my mouth!
Voranis: So I guess I'll see you this Friday!
Kara: Oh yeah, not gonna miss it!
We stood there for a few seconds without talking.
Unexpectedly, she leaned in and planted her soft lips to my cheeks. The warmth that was transmitted was soothing and made me feel strange.
Kara: Your face is priceless right now. See ya!
She went to a dark alleyway with a giggle and then flew away.
I tried to come to grips with what happened and what I felt, but could make out head or tails on the matter.
On the way back, a man actually tried to rob me. A part of me wanted to laugh at the poor guy but that didn't stop me from giving him a good beating. Of course I didn't leave any serious wounds, just painful ones. To seal the deal, I called the police on him with his own cellphone and then bolted from the scene before they arrived.
"Today was a good day."
I thought to myself before I started my pre-sleep meditation.
