Too bored, sleep came over me by the end of the night. I had planned to watch Scarlet. Instead, it backfired. At the last minute, I laid beside her on the bed. Before I knew it, a shuffling woke me. The quiver belonged to no other than Scarlet. That was if she was even Scarlet. I opened my eyes to her observing me. To say I was startled was an understatement. She could have killed me with ease. I could not tell how long she was watching me sleep.
She flopped down on the bed. "She won."
I tensed at the 'she'. "Who?"
Her face crinkled with a frown. "Mother."
I relaxed a little. "Isn't she dead? How can she win?"
"That was after she delivered her punishment. She took something precious from me. Something I can never get back." She rested her palm on her chest. "I don't feel anything. Not even when I look at you. It's so frustrating."
Frustrating? I thought her emotions were fried.
