"Are you sure this is going to work?" I laced up my boots. Kane did not answer right away. I had to look up. The uncertainty that he should not have shown was painted all over his face. "You do know what will happen if things go sideways right?"
The only reason I agreed to this was for Scarlet's sake. She would never let it go either way. It was better to monitor her rather than not know what her next move would be. I hated secrets. Scarlet was good at hiding things. I did not want her to feel like she had to do things alone. Our relationship would be better if things were transparent.
