"Are you ready for bed, kid?"
The Alzar peeked up at me from near the covers. "Do I have to sleep in a different room? I can sleep here with Scarlet."
I would have let him have his way if this was any other night. He and Scarlet both cared about each other. The simple thought seemed alien to me. These kinds of sympathizing ideas have never been mine before. Up to a few days ago, I never cared about stuff like this. Yet, one blend of emotions and I could not tell what belong to me or not.
"Not tonight, bud," I ventured further into the room. "I have to talk to her for a bit."
Alzar pushed off the bed. "Fine."
"Thanks, man."
He nodded and left the room. It would have been a better idea to walk him to his room. I would not want him to cause trouble on his way. But I did not have the strength to do anything but lay beside Scarlet.
