A bright light gleamed through my closed lids. I groaned and turned away my face. The glow never disappeared. What happened came back to mind. The sudden rush of the water, the mysterious hand, and then darkness. It all rushed back. My eyes flashed open. An ache clawed at one side of my head. I grabbed my head. The sluggish movement brought my attention to the surrounding.
Soft glows of light trapped in glass jars illuminated the area. I shifted on the flower padded mattress. Despite the structure, it was soft against my skin. Small fishes swam by. Tight pieces of wood tied together, circling the bed to cage me in. Beyond those different types of furniture made of various stones decorated what seemed like a room.
"I am guessing you like your quarters?"
I spun at the song-like voice. The vodyanitsa perched on a limestone throne-like chair. Her blue and gold tail swept to the side. The specks of pink brought the colors together.
