Chapter 9 - Unexpected breakfast

Thomas turned off his computer and finally went to bed. In bed, however, he took the phone and still browsed the internet for hours. And after he put his phone away and closed his eyes…

He heard a notification sound from the system.

[System requires action]

"Shut it, I am going to sleep" Thomas set his alarm for 9 a.m. And went to sleep. He began dreaming of a black-haired girl. About the age of 16. Pretty face, tiny figure. Her hair was tied in the back with a white ribbon. She wore leather armor, that wouldn't disturb her movements. She was training with a sword.

"a holy knight," he thought to himself while watching her using blessing on herself, before attacking a dummy. Her skill with magic was beautiful, however movement with the sword was clumsy. She hit the dummy, it disappeared and reappeared in another place. She charged it, and after impacting it disappeared again. Drops of sweat poured from her face, as she was moving excessively. She finally stopped to rest. And it was at this moment that he was woken up by a ringing alarm clock. Thomas still felt tired, due to him browsing the internet till 3 a.m. He took the alarm clock but didn't turn it off. He lay in bed while holding the alarm clock in his arm. Thomas was not a morning person. He woke up angry, now he was annoyed. He laid in bed for 10 more minutes, and finally got up and did his daily routine. He went to shower, since he was too lazy to do it in the evening, brushed his teeth, and dressed up. Then he went to the kitchen. Monica was long gone. School starts at 8 am. so she won't be bothering him in the morning.

"Can't wait to see her reaction, after she'll find out I was the one who sent those idiots to the hospital" Thomas chuckled. And then, he saw something on the table, that blew his mind. There were two sandwiches and a note with his name on it. "Huh? Is this house haunted?" He did not expect that Monica would go out of her way and make breakfast for him. "What an idiot, seriously, what is wrong with her" he was still talking to himself, however, her action, did put a smile on his face.

"Tastes okay, better than nothing I suppose," he thought to himself.

[Siscon]

Oh, shut the **** up.

[Aren't you forgetting something? You should be at the town hall at 10 a.m. You're gonna be late]

Fine, fine. I am going already.

He left the house, and this was the first time he was out in the town after his memories were split, during his eighteenth birthday. It was so bright, his eyes hurt. He slowly walked the street and saw Clara and her parents. They were out shopping. He saw her dad carrying a cake. Ahh, yes. It's her birthday on September 18th. So tomorrow.

She noticed him and wanted to say "Hi". However, she already knew he blamed her for everything, due to his actions at the hospital so she decided against it. Her dad on the other hand, called out for Thomas, but he pretended not to hear it. Her parents didn't think anything about it, due to him wearing headphones.

"Clara, go meet up with him today and invite him to our house. I haven't seen Thomas in ages now!" Her father told her with a bright smile on his face.

"I should make some spicy food he loves so much" her mother also added.

Mark and Stephany Millers loved Thomas just as much as they loved Clara. When he used to run away from home, Thomas always went to their place and stayed for a few days. However, he never complained about the abuse in his household, due to Mark working as a high-ranking police officer. He knew that nothing would change, his parents would only get slap on the wrist and Thomas's life would end up worse then before. After all, he wont be able to live with Millers forever.

Clara never told her parents that she's no longer friends with Thomas. She knew that they would get angry and would try to fix their friendship. But now, even if she wants to fix their relationship. She does not know how to. She is not stupid. She knows that Thomas hates her.

"What should I do…" she thought to herself.
