Chapter 24 - A job well done

Gathering all the magic power he had into his right hand, he slammed Janguri into the ground, creating a huge crater accompanied by a loud boom sound.

Janguri's body fell limp as his face was smashed in, completely covered in blood, and probably had more than a few broken bones. Although he may survive, there was also a good chance he would meet his maker.

Collapsing to the ground, Kevin felt exhausted and weak. Most of the energy he drained from the village boy was used in the fight, causing his stomach to growl once more. He struggled to get up before he climbed out of the crater to find himself surrounded.

... Surrounded by villagers who pointed guns at the bandits. It was clear that the bandits had surrendered, making Kevin sigh in relief. He was in no condition to be fighting.

"I guess it is a job well done!" a familiar voice said.

Thinking the stranger was an enemy, the villagers immediately pointed their guns at the masked man.

"He is not an enemy!" Lilith shouted. Listening to her words, they pulled their guns down.

"Who is he?"A villager asked, still not trusting the stranger.

For people who were nearly robbed of their organs, they had every right to be untrusting.

"He is the one who sent us here," Kevin said in a weak voice.

"Color me impressed, you guys did it. Not that I expected you to fail, but I am so proud."Klein said as he hugged the pair tightly.

"Let...go! Your.....choking... me."Lilith pleaded as she began to heavily inhale after Klein let go.

"Ah, sorry." he apologized.

'What a nice smell.'Lilith naughtily thought.

"Klein."

"Yes, Kevin."

"How come you showed up at the last minute?"Kevin kindly asked whereas Klein responded with silence.

"Wait, now that I think about it, you showed up exactly when the fight was over."Lilith accused.

"Caught red-handed, huh? I was here since yesterday, I was just observing the situation and waiting till you guys were in trouble."

"And how does I getting tied up not count as trouble?" Kevin asked.

"Forget about that, you guys did well. I was inspired to train you even harder." Klein happily announced while shrugging his shoulders.

"No!"The pair announced simultaneously, that they would do anything just to close their eyelids for even a brief moment.

"hehe."He giggled which scared the duo the more."Catching these bandits was another reason I came to this dimension."

"Just tie them up, a group of people will be here to take them," Klein added, but this time talking to the villagers.

Looking at the villagers, Kevin noticed that the bandits were unusually afraid of them. They were magic users, so could they not defeat people merely using guns?

"Why are the bandits afraid of the guns. Are they not capable of beating them?"Kevin questioned.

Hearing his question, Lilith instantly hopped away not wanting to explain anymore. Klein sighed as he realized that Lilith had abandoned him, leaving him to answer the question.

'Well, I suppose I am now his teacher!'Klein giggled at the thought.

"That is because they are not normal guns. They are magical weapons that use magic as a source of ammo. As a result, they are far stronger than normal weapons." Kevin explained as he glanced at Kevin's bloody knuckles.

Kevin could probably fall unconscious at any time, he had a large chest wound which was accompanied by his bloodied knuckles. Apart from that, you could probably feel the fatigue oozing from every pore on his skin.

"Kevin, you should-" Before Klein could suggest to Kevin take a nap, he already dropped to the snowy floor as his eyes lids became heavy and he eventually collapsed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Waking up in Klein's house, Kevin felt extremely drowsy and famished. Looking to his side, Lilith's bed was empty meaning that she was probably eating, training, or wasting time.

"I guess it's back to training."Kevin sighed as he laid back on his bed. Although he was overjoyed to have finally finished the bandit hunt, he was not the least bit excited about training.

Lying down, he thought back to his fight with Janguri and his tattoo.

'The tattoo!'He had a hunch it was a major lead in finding his memories. However, his arms were covered in white bandages, now slightly soaked in red. He could only assume that Klein patched him up after the fight.

Growl! Controlled by his hunger, he walked towards the kitchen. Only then did he notice Lilith and Klein conversing.

"Soo... Klein, mind telling me your race? If I had to guess you do not wear that mask for fashion."Lilith questioned as she took a spoonful of porridge.

'She... is quite smart.'Klein inwardly praised.

"Quite inquisitive? Your origins are just as mysterious as mine, after all, your race is wan-"

Growl! Their conversation was stopped as they heard the growling sounds from Kevin's stomach.

Lilith turned around, hoping that she was hearing random noises. As her eyes lay on Kevin who was covered in bandages, she grits her teeth with a horrid expression on her face.

"Why? Why? Why?"She mumbled as she leaped onto Kevin, pinning him to the floor. Kevin was about to complain, but when he saw tears dripping from Lilith's eye he ceased.

"Why? Why are you awake? Now that you are awake Klein will force us to train!"She shouted as she continuously slapped Kevin, hoping he would collapse again.

"Please faint! I do not want to try-"

"Kevin! I see you are awake."Klein said stopping Lilith's sentence midway.

"No! He is still asleep."Lilith pleaded as she stood in front of Kevin, obstructing Klein's vision of him.

With a devious grin behind his mask, Klein walked toward Kevin stretching his hand out. Still not understanding what was going on, he held Klein's hand and was lifted off the ground.

"We have a lot of training to do and only two more days," Klein announced while Lilith sighed in exhaustion.

"But I have not eaten yet."

"Forget about stuffing your face. You are going to train until you shout for mercy."Klein laughed.

Days till yetification's completion:2 days.
