Limbs torn as his body continues to drift away. One would usually talk big about dying but actually experiencing it was another case. The skin goes pale as they feel nauseous, sick and weak. At this moment Kevin could think of one think as he slowly descended towards the end of his life with his eyes closing gradually, "dying is such a pain".
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Is he going to wake up?" A loud female voice inquired.
"I'm not sure, it's a miracle he is even-"
Upon hearing such loud voices, Kevin was no longer able to remain in his dreams. He slowly began to regain consciousness and instantly greeted by what seemed to be droplets of water falling onto his head. In annoyance, he eyes immediately opened, demanding to know who was degrading his head.
"Ke...vin! Yo....u ar...e finally up!" Angela said in joy as her cries interrupted her speech.
Kevin had to blink a few times as his vision was still quite blurry. However, soon afterwards, it became clearer.
"Ah, Angela. Your safe," Kevin said with a weak voice while still lying on a bed. Although his weak voice could not express it, he was a bit shocked to see Angela's face a little too close to his.
"What's up with the water works?" Kevin asked. If she was worried, seeing him wake up should have brightened up her mood not cause a flood of tears.
"I-I am sorry," Angela responded with tears still dripping onto Kevin who was feeling too weak to move.
"Huh? Why?" He asked in confusion.
" You guys fought so hard for me and you ended up all injured, while others also died," Angela said, feeling depressed as she thought she was the cause of the fight.
Like a damsel in distress, Kevin knew it was his time to comfort her like a prince would do a princess. Although his facial expressions were lacking, his words had to be top notch.
"Angela listen, we all-"
"KEVIN! What did you do to make Angela cry?" Lilith shouted as she barged into the room, throwing an empty can of juice at him.
"Ouch, I'm injured you moron," Kevin yelled back.
"And so? You trying to use your injuries as an excuse to force yourself on Angela!" Lilith accused.
"Huh?" Kevin was at a loss for how deep Angela's stupidity could possibly reach.
"Hehe," at the sight of them bickering, Angela could not help but giggle.
"Please Angela, do not laugh at the words of a rapist," Lilith said to Angela in a sarcastic tone.
'It's a relief to see Angela's mood has gotten better but if Lilith does not stop slandering me with her nasty tongue, we are going to have problems,' Kevin inwardly swore.
While Lilith and Kevin continued to argue, the door was silently opened by the doctor who decided to watch for a while before finally speaking.
"You look lively for someone who was at death's door,".
Recalling past events, Kevin's eyebrows lifted in shock wondering how we was still alive.
"How did I end up in your clinic? The last thing I remember was falling off a mountain," Kevin asked.
'Surely such a fall should have killed me,' Kevin thought.
"As experienced as I am I have no idea, even after Lilith explained, so she will tell you," the doctor replied as he faced Lilith.
"Well..... when I took Angela to the others, I planned to come back but there was an avalanche that even carried part of the castle, therefore we retreated. When everyone was safe I began searching for you, I expected you to be buried in the snow. However, to my surprise it was not hard to find you at all," Lilith paused.
"Then?" Kevin asked impatiently.
"I do not know how to say it but the area you were in was completely devoid of any snow or any plant life. I do not want to exaggerate but everything was dead around. It was almost like everything decayed and your tattoo was lit with your body sustaining no injury. You were as fit as fiddle," Lilith tried to explain from the best of her abilities.
'No way, I can still remember my limbs flying away. Does my tattoo also heal limbs?'.
"Is your tattoo a magical weapon?" The doctor asked.
Kevin looked at his tattoo, wondering what could have really happened. It felt as though his tattoo has a strong hold on his past. If he could just find the mysteries behind his tattoo, he would be a step closer to finding his memories.
"I do not know. All I know is that I can drain people's energy and use it as my own," Kevin told where as the doctor began to formulate his own hypothesis.
'So that's what he did to Norm!' Lilith concluded. Seeing Kevin make a comeback in the fight confused Lilith, unless he had a deviant element or magical imprint which sucked mana it was literally impossible to regain mana.
Now that Lilith had nothing more to say, Kevin decided to finally ask another set of questions.
"What happened to Norm and that man?".
Hearing the question, the doctor released a long sigh before sitting down.
"Unfortunately Norm is missing, we do not know if she is dead or alive. We loss to many in this fight for Norm to only be claimed missing. But I suppose it is better than her continuing her acts. The man whom they spoke to possess the Tsujigen is also gone," Greyham said with a tinge of disappointment in his voice.
"What are the Tsujigens? At the sight of them, even Norm was shaking?" Kevin asked again.
Lilith's eyes twitched as she remembered herself cowering when Aiken appeared. Being a naturally arrogant person, she was not a fan of fear.
"I do not know about the man personally but as for the Tsujigens everyone knows of them. They are five, each for a different power: Tsujigen of power, Tsujigen of force, Tsujigen of space, Tsujigen of illusion and Tsujigen of time. Each of these are powerful and if you are too possess one, you can be a world treasure. Having one Tsujigen makes you a serious threat but as they are only five they are super duper rare," Lilith explained as she sat on Kevin's bed.
"So where did they come from? Or are they created?" Kevin inquired.
"I'm not entirely sure, but legends say it came from a god who saved the world from an evil race called the Genois race," Lilith said while getting uncomfortably close to Kevin. Luckily, the akwardness vanished as Angela pulled her away.
During the explanation, the nurse came into the room bearing news for the doctor. She whispered into his ears, causing him to leave the room with an annoyed expression.
"Bye Kevin, I must leave as well," Angela waved as she left.
The room then became silent and awkward as only Lilith and Kevin were left in the room. Trying to break the akwardness Kevin tried to initiate a conversation but was stopped by Lilith.
"Umm.... when you get out. Where are you going to go?" Lilith asked in a surprising shy tone.
Now that Kevin thought about it, this week he had been too busy to consider what comes next.
"No idea," he replied bluntly.
"Ok then, do you want to do adventuring with me? In the process, we can find clues about your tattoo," Lilith asked once again with a slight blush as she played with her fingers.
Kevin slightly smiled for the first time as he looked at her. The morning light shone on his head, making him appear angel like, causing Lilith to violently blush.
"Why not," he replied.
"Great! All the villages plan to celebrate their victory with another festival in a week. Before that I plan to go for a bounty hunt and then we leave to another dimension after the festival. I also know someone who can maybe find your memories and possibly investigate your tattoo. Then hopefully answer as to why you are not a corpse," Lilith said with a happy expression.
'Not need to be so blunt,'.
After saying that, she gave a cheerful wave before leaving the room.
Chirp!
"Huh?".
Almost as if waiting for everyone to leave, Kirby appeared from under the bed. It jumped onto Kevin's lap before proceeding to sleep.
'Where has he been during the past fight,' Kevin asked himself before allowing his body to sleep for a few hours.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As soon as Kevin left the clinic, he could call many gazed on him. Not those of hatred but of admiration. It was to be expected, after all, he did play a big role in the fight.
" I heard he is the boy who fight to save Angela!".
"He is kind of hot!".
"Should I ask him out!".
The whispers from the villagers were quite loud, he could not help but feel smug, even though in the fight he technically never won. After organizing his thoughts, Kevin decided to tour the village. Last time he was here he never had the opportunity to explore.
"Hey!" he heard an oddly familiar voice calling him out.
He turned around to see Lilith in the distance. She appeared to be holding a bag along with her clothes given to her by Klein.
"What's up?".
"Have you forgotten? We are going to go bounty hunting, remember?".
"Now?".
"Of course, where do you think the money to cover our travel and expenses will come from?" Lilith sarcastically asked.
Well... it was too be expected as well. Lilith is many things but not rich. He had no choice but to go since money was needed to survive. She grabbed a dimensional traveller similar to the one Klein possessed.
Lilith then explained the target was a man called Larry Tein, who escaped to the dimension they were in. They needed to travel to a city called Crave city, because that was where he was last sighted.
Lilith put her hands into her backpack, in an attempt to grab an object. She gave Kevin an object covered in bandages.
" It's your cursed weapon. Since, I'm not a curse weapon wielder I cannot touch it directly,".
As he opened it, it was indeed his Asura in dagger form. It probably landed away from him during the fall.
Lilith then opened up a portal to a new destination with the press of a few buttons.
"Ready, partner?" Lilith asked signing for a fist bump.
"Yeah!" Kevin exclaimed returning the fist bump.
