"Maximus, I am used to being hated, used, thrown away, cast out, and abandoned. And even punished for the crimes I didn't commit. These are not new for me. You can keep your apology to yourself," she said her eyes clear. They were rejecting him and his apology.

"I can live here like this," Lenora said with a finality that shook him from his stupor.
