Chapter 4 - Can I choose not to reclaim the title

Eudora felt that Lenora was trying to humiliate her by wearing these kinds of things. The food thing could be hidden, the uncleaned room could be hidden but the clothes she wore couldn't be. If others saw her like this, people would think that she wasn't listening to that stupid Lich, who was also known as Emperor Azezal Laroch's orders. She hated him to the core. But for now, she has to hold her tempers. She could break the fingers that pointed at her but she couldn't even touch the single hair of this so-called Emperor Lich.

"From what I observed, there were no clothes in the closet of my room. There was a pile of crumpled up and wrinkled clothes in the corner of the closet, Queen Mother. I thought I would get new clothes soon." Lenora said as she blinked her eyes.

Her face was a picture of innocence. But Eudora knew otherwise.

"I will take care of these things," Eudora said and was about to walk away when Lenora's voice stopped her.

"Queen Mother, don't punish the maids. After all, they were used to not working for me. And, I am not a Princess. They may think that till I become a princess, I don't deserve respect. Or who knows, perhaps they are working under someone who doesn't want me to reclaim my title." her voice faltered and Eudora raised her brow slightly at that. "They may even not treat me properly even after my wedding to the Werewolf King. And as you know maids do everything. They handle food, and clothes, and assist in hygienic practices. I am afraid of having maids, My Queen Mother," Lenora said softly.

"Can I choose not to reclaim the title?" Lenora said shocking her.

Eudora: "..."

[I brought her up and now she is playing tricks with me.] Eudora thought and smirked at Lenora who was putting a show in front of her.

Eudora understood that she doesn't want to get married to the Werewolf King. If she doesn't reclaim her title… there was no way she would reclaim it. She was such a smart girl… that she sent all the soldiers first and the horse in the last. But Lenora forgot that… Eudora was the one who taught her The game of Chess.

"Oh my little Princess, Don't worry. I will take care of the trivial things. And you will be able to regain all your respect just like before." Eudora said.

"Queen Mother, I thank you for your benevolence. But I am afraid I am not worthy of all these things," Lenora said.

Eudora stepped ahead and stood beside Lenora. "Don't try to kill three birds in a single shot. That can kill you. These strategies would work between humans but not between Vampires and that too in front of me," Eudora said.

Eudora stopped whispering and faced Lenora straight in her eyes. "Don't forget who is the queen. And I am your mother, much older than you… I have seen all kinds. Maybe two years in that shabby wing made you turn into a fool. Don't turn into a fool.

"I need you to be strong and smart… After all, I need you to show your superiority in the other kingdom," Eudora said.

Taking a few steps back, Eudora looked at Lenora with a smile that sent chills down her spine.

"I will take care of the rest of the things. Don't worry. Your breakfast will be sent here… My maids will take care of your breakfast and meals for today," Eudora says and leaves the place, waving her left hand. Eudora saw the intricate gloves on her hands which reminded her. Those were the same gloves Lenora made for Eudora. She smiled back at Eudora.

Lenora knew the person who was affected most by the incident two years ago was Eudora. But… she never showed it. She acted as if that didn't bother her. But she knew… how Eudora craved to know the truth. She asked Lenora time and time again only to know the truth. How could Lenora remember it… she forgot everything about that night. She doesn't know what exactly happened.

She tried to find the truth but she realized it was a waste. No one helped her nor believed her. She was given the power or right to investigate the truth. Just because Emperor Azezal Laroch said that Lenora was guilty, no one gave heed to her.

She sneaked into her sister's room and tried to find the results. But she saw three pairs of footprints. But a certain pair of footprints were very unique. Before she could think more… she saw a few guards walking in her way. She knew who it was. Not wanting to face him she decided to walk away.

"Let's go the other way," she heard the harsh voice of her brother, hiding the hurt expression on her face. She quickly walked away.
