Chereads / The Immortal Akira / Chapter 86 - Bank robbery

Chapter 86 - Bank robbery

Akira was undoubtedly interested in learning if he could ever make Kazuya's mistrust vanish after speaking with Reien Gakuto regarding Kazuya. Since he had no idea where he was and his sister had said that he had gone outdoors, Akira was instructed to look for him later...

He was walking down the street on the bare pavement when a piece of paper fluttered over his head. Akira grabbed the piece of paper that was on his face since his vision was obscured. He was astounded. The paper was a 10 million Gol lottery ticket that brought him incredible luck. He assumed that the lottery ticket came to him in the wind since it smelled like a human hand.

Struck with shock, without delay, he went to the nearest bank in the central city.

With the 10 million lottery ticket in his hand, he shined so bright like a sun with an ecstatic smile. Waiting up in line, he couldn't wait to get the chance to have the money in an instant.

That was when he thought...

"Hah!? WHERE'S MY LUCKY LUCKY FORTUNE?" He had lost his lottery ticket when he checked his pockets. No trace of scent nor a sound of a thief who stole his lottery ticket. It was regrettably his mistake for being guardless and having to face his arrogance. And, it was until this happened that he finally should keep the lottery in his System:inventory.

Right as someone passed by, he grab the person by the shoulder and told him to wait. He saw a ticket right on his two fingers before giving it to the clerk of the bank. He saw through his trickery and cunning fingers.

"Sir, I humbly suggest that you put your hand off my shoulder. We can settle this without a fuss, shall we-?!" The stranger took his hood off and meet face to face with Akira.

"YOU!?" Unexpectedly, Kazuya was the stranger who stole Akira's lottery ticket.

"Ah, Kazuya. How's it going, buddy?"

"YOU'RE THE LAST PERSON I WANT TO HEAR CALLING ME BUDDY, SO STOP IT." Akira made an unexpected appearance that left Kazuya utterly startled.

"I apologize, but I'd like to meet you, and it just so happened to be at this bank. Do you not find it amusing that we met by coincidence?"

"Quit that! Those were the cringiest words I've ever heard. Take this ticket; I'm no longer interested in it." A second after saying so, Kazuya's visage darkened.

"I don't see why you despise me so much, look. Let's talk for a change." Akira refused to get his lottery back and wanted to have a word with Kazuya.

"Okay, I see now. Do you want me to acknowledge you? Not a chance in a million! Although I respect your strength, I will never think highly of you."

"When did I start wanting that? Damn you, I'm just here to talk!"

After one, two, and many disputes, they finally have a conversation. Just one word already add a fuel to the fire for Kazuya. His tolerance for Akira's words was zero.

Why did he detest him more than some guys who were simply regular guys and wannabe, Akira questioned. Kazuya responded that Akira reminded him of his past self. Kazuya was unable to master a magic spell that would allow him to avoid using his main ability.

"What? A magic spell? Not skills?"

"You numbskull, anyone can utilize magic on this planet if they put their mana into it. I can't learn any chanting magic, and I also have no control over them. Having to steal magic without any original magic is annoying. Anime and manga contain "cliches" much like any other genre and this applies to my main ability."

They only needed to sign up for magic lessons at an academy to be able to use magic without any main abilities. All around the world, there were numerous academies, including those for gaining job experience. Because Kazuya was illiterate, he was forced to employ his main ability until he finally lost patience. But if magic had a star system, this would be it.

Verbal magic: ★★

Non-verbal magic: ★★★

Skills: ★★★★

Main ability/forbidden magic: ★★★★★

This showed that the main abilities were more advanced than any other kind. But... this wasn't all.

The most advanced of all were the special traits from their family.

Bloodline magic/Main ability with no system: ★★★★★★

Magic that went well beyond the main ability was bloodline magic. They frequently mingle and give birth to new kinds of magic. Bloodline magic may potentially have multiple main abilities, which was also uncommon. In truth, Arthur Scarlet contained the most frightening bloodline magic in Celesta, and Arthur Scarlet chose not to use any of it. Since the Scarlet family was not originally summoners, and because he had six divine weapons, rumors had it that Arthur might have more than one main ability.

With or without skills and main abilities, divine weapons could also be called forth, however, it was more complicated with ungraspable structures in how to summon it with verbal magic or forbidden magic alone.

"There, does that make it clear?" Kazuya was done with the explanation.

"Wow, you know a lot for an illiterate person."

"THAT DOESN'T MEAN I'M BRAINLESS, YOU MORON!" Kazuya did get bothered explaining the whole thing just for himself to be alone. Yet, Akira wasn't satisfied.

"I'm leaving, I can't stand the atmosphere." That implied to Akira.

Then, unexpectedly, a gang of criminals with weapons bashed the door.

"Everyone calm down! This is a heist!"

"What a lame-assed initial introduction!" A group of robbers, whose opening statement Kazuya found to be lame, stopped him from leaving.

"Hold your hands up so I can see them!" The robber spoke, his hands and voice trembling.

"Instead of robbing a person or a bank, go rob him. He currently holds 10 million Gols." The robbers should rob Akira, who was standing behind him, Kazuya said.

Kazuya observed the dramas while standing behind the robbers. Following Kazuya's advice, the robbers leveled their pistols at Akira.

"That's kinda scummy move, don't you think?"

"You're strong, aren't you? I just hate causing a ruckus on a peaceful day like this, so I'll have you have the fun." Kazuya leaned toward the wall with his eyes closed since he didn't want to see the robbers drop to shame.

"Sadly for you, he has the lottery ticket..." Akira then advised the robbers to rob Kazuya instead.

"Ah..." The robbers turned around and pointed their guns at Kazuya who was going to relax. Kazuya forgot he stole Akira's lottery and hadn't given it to him.

"Hey now, ugh, fine." Seconds later, Kazuya beat the robbers senselessly and tied them up with his magic.

"Great, my hands are now dirty, thanks to you. Well, karma is a bitch after all. Here take the ticket and win your 10 million Gols prize, I'll take my leave-?" Before his steps were almost at the door, he saw the soldiers out there from the window.

"Leave it to me. They won't shoot if I told them that I'm a warrior." Akira opened the door, insisting on taking control of things.

"Guns down, we're not bad. I'm a warrio-Uwoewhau!" Akira went back to the bank as the soldiers started shooting him relentlessly.

"Ya idiot! You could have just shown them your warrior license. And more, your clothes are too informal for a warrior. Of course, they won't believe you. Let me handle it, I have a warrior license after all... warrior license... my warrior license...?" Kazuya checked everything from his hand pocket to his jacket and found nothing.

"Oh shit, I left my license in my home."

'Shit, shit, shit! Soldiers and knights were at their most rigid on this day. They won't hold anything back since that damn Mikadzuki made them strict. They'd believe I'm a criminal rather than a citizen if I leave right now. In other words, I'm confined to this room with him.' Kazuya was in a difficult predicament because he was unable to leave the place without his license.

"Now we're damned. Guess I'm left with no other choices." Kazuya stole the mask from the robbers and wore it on Akira.

"The hell are you doing?" Akira said with a muffled voice by the mask.

"There's no other way... you have to take me as your hostage..." Kazuya induced Akira to become a criminal and hold him captive while the robbers were incapacitated for Kazuya to securely return home.

Meanwhile, Akira...

"YOU DO IT, NOT ME!" When he objected, Akira gave him the mask. Who would be the hostage and who would be the criminal was what they engaged in constant combat as the hostages watched.

"Hey! Fighting is not necessary right now; let's move, rookies!" They were mistaken for their companions by another robber who used the bank wall explosion as their exit ticket, and they were brought to their getaway van.

"..." Kazuya, standing in silence, looked like they both were now wanted criminals. Kazuya clear his thoughts and it wasn't too late because he hadn't caused any harm.

"How can this day get any worse? Hey, bird brain-?" Akira was lying down with a green, pale face as Kazuya turned to gaze at him. He had motion sickness and couldn't stand the van.

Until this day, he most definitely, certainly, did not want to meet Akira again. He had problems hiding around every corner ever since he joined, and now this was even worse than the karma he believed in. He was now known as "The black cat" by Kazuya.

Akira let out his medicine from Shura and drank it, erasing his sickness temporarily.

Akira got back up with a pale face and ask the current situation. The soldiers started shooting lasers and his question was answered.

"Hey, how much did you get? You know, we can't go home empty-handed or else my wife will murder me...? Who the hell are you guys?" The robber who appeared to be in command reacted astonished because he had no idea who they were.

The rest of the group was astounded because they had assumed they were the newbies.

Exasperated, Kazuya went with no plan for his protection other than to survive. He wore a mask to mask his identity and transformed the ground into a rough path, creating obstacles for the soldier's vehicle.

But to his shock, the ground returned to normal. The gang began encouraging Kazuya as he struggled to find a way to slow them down without hurting them. He was thus misidentified as a "fresh recruit." Due to his efforts to dissuade the soldiers, Kazuya was now considered a criminal.

"Someone has to be using earth magic after I cast it on the ground." Kazuya assumed that someone had to use magic to repair the road.

And then someone showed up there, standing in the soldier's car.

He was tall and was wielding a spear while donning a white uniform. a polearm with a strong shaft and a sharp point carved with his clan's logo. To top it all off, he had long blonde hair and a serious expression.

"Great, a warrior is on our tail, and he looks strong too."

"What do we do now, boss?" The robber called Kazuya their boss because he was trying to stop the soldiers from getting them(him) arrested.

"I AM NOT YOUR BOSS, YOU DIMWITS!"

The mysterious warrior then leaped and landed atop their van.

Akira assisted in the escape by fighting the warrior since he didn't want to be caught. Prior to that, he had to use a mask so his identity was concealed.

"Listen, I'm not a criminal. I'm forced to do it because they don't know I'm a warrior."

"Hmph, as if I'll listen to a criminal. I shall destroy evil with cruelty with this spear that pierces through injustice and casts them into the depths of Aghroba." The blonde warrior didn't listen and believed one word Akira was saying.

"What the hell is Aghroba?"

"I will taint evil, and you shall perish by my spear." The blonde warrior clenched his spear and launched the initial assault.

In a flash. Akira barely managed to avoid his powerful thrust, which came dangerously close to piercing his head. The blonde warrior initiated the second attack by pelting Akira with a volley of blows, forcing him to draw his scythe and engage in combat. Without waiting for Akira to take action, the blonde warrior attacked him impatiently.

After successfully parrying numerous attacks, Akira was eventually set free and allowed to launch his assault. The blonde warrior was swift as a mantis, which was unfortunate. His delight or astonishment at Akira's attack was little; it appeared as though he could simply relax and avoid it.

"Your movements are all offensive, and that blade is slowing you down." Akira was blown back by the blonde warrior when he kicked him at his scythe.

Akira grinned and used his blood claws to swing the blade back. It startled him since he grew quickly and got a scar directly on his nose.

[BLOOD MAGIC: PARALYZE]

He immobilized him in two seconds with just a scar, then flung him off the van. But within two seconds, he swiftly recovered and returned to the rooftop of the van.

"Impressive. You are superior to my expectations. With simply a scar on my nose, though, I cannot dishonor my clan. Consequently, I will fight with dignity!" The blonde warrior took things faster than previously and with increasing seriousness. His fervor grew, and he challenged Akira to a duel.

Akira dodged his spear many times, but eventually, his lottery ticket fell and flew away. Akira jumped to grab the ticket since he couldn't resist wasting it.

"Get back here!" Following him, the blonde warrior aimed his spear toward Akira.

Akira used his teeth to grab the ticket before avoiding the blade. He attempted a blood slash, but it missed...

The soldiers crashed due to the blood slash, which also damaged the source of his slash.

"..."

"..." Kazuya watched the whole thing.

The utter silence between those two after "Accidentally" make things worse.

"YOU IDIOT, NOW I'M STUCK WITH YOU BEING A HIT-AND-RUN CRIMINAL!" Now it made things worse, Kazuya's reputation was going downhill, and with his new criminal records.

"WASN'T MY FAULT! THE 10 MILLION TICKET WAS ON THE LINE. I COULDN'T HELP IT!" Akira yelled too and stomped the van.

"YOU RISKED YOUR OWN LIFE IN JAIL OVER THAT?!" Kazuya's voice became tired as he spoke.

"SAME GOES FOR YOU! YOU RISKED YOUR LIFE OVER SOME KARMA BULLCRAP!"

The blonde warrior silenced them by launching an attack at Akira's skull.

"Do something damn you, Kazuya!" Akira could only dodge his attack to prevent harm and asked Kazuya to do something.

"I guess I'm stuck with you rots, so screw it. Alright then, brace yourselves! I'm going to escape no matter if you're with me or not, I don't give a crap. I'll give you my experience as a racer." Kazuya took the wheel, claiming to be an experienced racer.

Akira and the blonde warrior were forced to cling on after Kazuya stomped the gas. The blonde warrior was knocked to the ground by Akira's kick.

Both Kazuya's driving and control abilities were excellent. They ultimately encountered a road that the soldiers had barricaded while traveling at high speed.

[EARTH MANIPULATION: CAR RAMP]

Kazuya swiftly reached the ground and made a ramp for his escape by opening the van's door. The van leaped past the soldier's barricade as they braced themselves, landing safely.

"YES!" They dodged the blocked passage, and the gang rejoiced.

Sadly, they had their celebrations too soon. Back again, the blonde warrior barred the way. They crashed as Kazuya made an abrupt left turn, causing them to fall off the bridge.

Under the bridge, Akira and Kazuya ran for their lives and hide, successfully escaping.

"Heh, didn't think we would make it this far. The soldiers are coming so as more warriors. Good thing, they didn't know us. So we're good. Glad we wore those masks." As soon as they were able to flee, Kazuya laughed with joy.

"Hehe, we definitely did." After the agony of escaping, Akira thought they had finally come to terms with one another, and it was taxing.

"You're becoming too carefree about this." The blonde warrior appeared next to them.

"..." The blonde warrior got them silent after his appearance.

"Give me a break..." Akira and Kazuya were both defeated and were arrested.

Akira was arrested, though, since he was the one who attacked the soldiers, and Kazuya was left to be questioned.

"Do you know this man?" The soldier interrogated Kazuya about his relations with Akira.

Kazuya looked at Akira.

"Never in my life, officer." With fully shown teeth on his face and an annoying smirk, he spread a lie.

"HEY! FOR JUST MINUTES, I THOUGHT WE FINALLY GETTING ALONG!"

"Whom are you talking to? We have nothing related-" Kazuya's words got omitted.

"Hey! It's our boss! Hey, it's us! we appreciate all your efforts in making our escape possible. We will meet again and try our best next time, see you in prison!" Then, in front of the soldiers, a gang of crooks referred to him as boss. They believed he was in charge because he had helped them. Kazuya started sweating, a lot.

The soldiers grabbed his shoulder and... "You're coming with us too, then, you little trickster." Kazuya got arrested.

"Oh my, what's this? Seems like I'm not alone after all, see you in the neighbor cell, Kazuya." With handcuffs, fully shown teeth on his face and an annoying smirk, Akira got his revenge.

Karma was indeed a bitch...
