Chapter 3 - GOT A TATTOO

Five years later, Serina turned 15 years old and she has become even more beautiful. Her chest was a bit bigger and her bottom was a bit fuller and firmer after all the exercise she imposed on herself. And her hair has grown longer as well. Just like always, she didn't interact with most children because she didn't want to hear unnecessary noises in her head which will make her think badly of them.

She has learned to block the voices as well but there were times, when she's being careless, voices from other people will invade her mind. But just like how abnormal it was for her to hear voices and control the weather, another abnormal thing happened the next day after her 15th birthday.

"Mom! Mom!" Serina shouted at the top of her lungs while running downstairs to find her mother. Horror was reflecting in her eyes and she was looking pale. Her long sleeve was still unbuttoned, showing her flat stomach and her black sports bra.

"What happened to you? Why are you running around with an unbuttoned shirt? Dress up properly!" Irene scolded her daughter and even flicked her forehead.

"Wait. I want to show you something." Serina pulled her shirt down, showing her bareback in front of her mother. But she wasn't showing off her fair skin to her mother, instead, she was showing something else. "Look at that! Can you see it? Or am I hallucinating?"

Irene looked at her daughter's horrified expression and then back to her daughter's back. "Serina, stop joking around with me," Irene stated with coldness dripping in her voice. "You just turned fifteen yesterday! What were you thinking about getting this tattoo done?! Your dad will surely kill you!" Irene pinched her daughter's ears and pulled them down, punishing her right on the spot.

"Aw! Ouch! That hurts! I didn't even get this." Serina retorted with grievances and tried her best to pry open her mother's fingers which were holding her ear.

"You dare lie to me?!" Irene got even angrier but she realized something. "You didn't conceal this yesterday?"

"Mom, I don't even know how to use makeup and you're asking me about concealing this?"

"Who knows? You might be learning it behind my back."

"What's going on here?" Michael walked downstairs and since Serina was facing her mother in the living and had her back facing the stairs, her father saw the tattoo on her back immediately. "Seriiinnaaa?!"

Serina flinched from her father's boiling anger but she was a victim in this. She had no idea how it happened and since her mother figured things weren't what she was thinking, she defended their daughter in front of her husband.

"Michael, let us listen to her explanation, shall we?" Irene asked with an encouraging tone while rubbing her husband's arm to calm him down. "I think something isn't right."

"So, what's this all about?" Michael stood in an intimidating manner with his arms crossed over his chest. Although Serina has grown, she was still shorter than her father, and looking at his towering figure right now, she felt really scared. Even though she got punished a lot of times before, she felt that those were reasonable punishments because she knew and she would admit that she did wrong. But this time, she was wrongfully accused of getting a tattoo.

Serina put on her clothes properly and buttoned them as fast as she could. She walked to the couch and sat with her hands clasped together. "You know that I was wearing a backless dress last night at my birthday party. I didn't have this tattoo. And besides, you know my phobia with needles. Did you really think I'd let someone tattoo me?"

"So, how do you explain this?" Irene and Michael questioned her at the same time.

"I don't know. I don't even know where this came from. I tried removing them with alcohols but it won't come off."

Her parents looked at each other and sighed. They wanted to believe her but with the tattoo insight, they were having a hard time believing their daughter. Although that's the case, they stopped scolding her as well. They thought that she might be in her rebellious phase and it's better not to agitate her or she might do something even more horrifying.

"Since that's the case, let's not bother with that anymore. We cannot do anything about it already. But make sure that you won't let anyone see that or you will be expelled from school." Michael told his daughter and went back upstairs.

He clenched his fist and walked directly to the study room to get some breather. He knew this was going to happen. He knew that someone else will take his late sister's role. He knew that someday; his child will pay the price for what happened in the past.

"I can't let the same tragedy happen to my daughter. I can't just allow that to happen." Michael whispered while looking for something from his drawers. The moment he saw the feather-like tattoo on the back of his daughter, he already knew what it was but thinking he might be wrong, and that his daughter purposely had that tattooed on her, he still questioned her.

But since Serina didn't know anything, it only means one thing – her destiny was slowly unfolding.

"Sigh. I thought she can escape this curse." Michael mumbled helplessly.
