Chereads / Reborn As An A.I. With A System / Chapter 41 - New Computer

Chapter 41 - New Computer

Eve was currently standing in front of Lilly, who had a big bright smile on her face with her hands on her hips. In front of her was a pile of computer parts that were piled up on the floor. "Lilly, how much did you buy!?"

"Hmmm? I just bought what was there. Don't worry about the price. Come let's set it up so we can work together!" Lilly was excited. She pushed past Eve and swiped the desk clear of the robot parts that were there, and began putting the computer together. Tezz and Eve locked eyes, and Tezz just shook her head and shrugged.

Eve felt bad. She felt buying so many computer parts must have cost a lot of money. But then she began seeing strange parts being installed into the computer. "Glass chips?"

"Oh, these? Yeah, after the war, due to the lack of computer chips, things got switched to glass and light. When combined with a light CPU, the processing and computation are out of this world. The price of the parts is only based on the quality. This, of course, made the price of glass skyrocket. Like this here." Lily pulled out the square block of glass that was almost completely translucent, but there are brands with less quality.

"This here is where the data would be stored. The number of lines is how much data can be stored. These here are only one hundred terabytes. They only cost a hundred credits. The memory glass are made in the same way. But due to the way the inner storage glass is done, it will determine the speed and storage capacity of the memory stick.

"And let's not forget the processor. The clearer it is, the better the processing speed. There are very small crystals inside that act like old processors of ancient times. The good thing about glass is that it never overheats. It is able to cool down fast. And the resources to make it are abundant. The only trick was actually getting the glass to work in the same manner as the old CPUs of the ancient computers. Even the motherboard is now made of glass. It just looks much different, is all." Lilly explained each part as she set up the computer for Eve.

Eve could tell that each part acted and worked in the same manner as the computer she had in her office, but the speed and power was on a whole other level. "This is quite amazing. Aiu, if I had this back then, I could have given you your own body..."

"It's fine… Eve, you worked so hard to get to where you were at. You developed so many technologies trying to create something that was powerful and still could fit into a small package. It's enough to know that you tried so hard for me..." Aiu was really touched by Eve's dedication in keeping her promise to make her a body.

Back then, Aiu had just gained consciousness and understanding to where she could speak to Eve on her own without needing to ask if what she said was correct. At that time, four years had passed, and Aiu remembered every second of it. Every time she answered something correctly, the first time, Eve was so happy she would jump for joy.

Eve never once thought of Aiu as a tool to be used but more like her own child. She always had that mindset. "If it was able to learn and converse, it is no different than you and I!" That was what she would always say. As time went on, and even though it was a long and grueling process of slowly teaching an A.I. to learn the way a mother would teach a child, she did it.

When others were using code to quickly teach their A.I., Eve spoke to Aiu as if she was a little kid. The code she wrote started off simple at first. Just basic simple commands, but as time went on Eve continued adding more and more code until Aiu turned into what she is now.

Aiu learned the meaning of caring for another. She helped Eve with whatever she could. She would scold Eve. She would take care of her as her systems and influence in the office expanded. The two really grew to depend on one another.

"I wonder if I can create a new body for you now even though we are like this...." Eve pondered she saw nothing in the code that connected Aiu to her, so she was unsure how to go about that.

"I wouldn't want it even if you could. I think me being connected to you is a better idea. If you run off on your own, there is no telling what might happen. So no building me a body, I am very happy where I am now." Aiu replied instantly. She never wanted to be separated from Eve. This was a new time, and many hazards around. If she wasn't there to guide Eve, who would?

"Okay, then no new body. Sigh, and here I thought I could see my little grandkidbots. And here I was going to name your first two kids Nuts and Bolts." Eve said teasingly.

"Like I would want to go with some rust bucket. Plus I can't even have kids!" Aiu sounded embarrassed, and she was. She never expected Eve to make such a joke and tease her like that!

"But if you made little bots, then wouldn't that make them your babies?" Eve asked.

"I guess it would..." Aiu answered in a low voice. She never thought about it that way. If that was the case, then yeah, that would make them her babies. "Well, it's not happening. But Eve… What kind of horrid names are Nuts and Bolts!?"

"Eh!? Horrid!? It's not cute!?" Eve was stunned, she thought the name was really cute!

"I am so glad you used the initials of the project name you came up with as my name and didn't name me something weird."
