Eve looked at the man she had just killed for a few seconds before searching his body for her loot. "Hmm… What's this?" Eve pulled out a black card from the man's chest pocket and looked at it. "Lucky! Money card! But…. Can I even use it?"
"Can't you just hack it later?" Aiu asked.
"Mm… Should be easy enough. At least I will have some of this time's currency." Eve stored away the card along with the other items she found on the man before hopping down the broken part of the staircase and back onto the first floor. "I guess we should get going."
Eve did not even care about the points she just got because it wouldn't be able to buy her anything at this time that she really needed. There were a bunch of materials she could buy as well. Such as different kinds of alloys for building a frame with. She wanted to craft a new torso as well as a new head. She also wanted to get some proper skin on her body. The only thing she worried about was if, after crafting it, would she be able to still auto equip it if it was an item she made herself.
Plus, right now, she had no way of knowing just how the people of this time reacted to things like cybernetics. She wondered if she would be able to pass herself off as human if she still had a robot part visible or not. She still had so much she needed to know about this world she was currently in that was vastly different from her previous life.
"I guess now, all that is left is to make our way to the city." Eve exited the building and looked at the map in her eye before walking off in the direction of the city. She figured it would take a while to get to her destination, and since she was not in a hurry, she saw no need to rush either.
She walked through the desolate streets filled with broken scorched buildings stopping here and there to check to see if she could find anything new, but all the news she had found stopped three years after she died. She couldn't trust the computer's time and date since they had been shut off without power for who knows how long. There was nothing keeping them correctly up to date. So in order to find out more about her current time, she had to wait until she reached X-Cyber City.
"Eve, do you have any plans on how to enter the city?" Aiu asked. It had been bothering her. They were headed to a city that would probably have some kind of security. She worried that they would get caught and destroyed as soon as they tried to enter the city.
"I have been thinking about that, but I am still unsure. The shop has a cloaking device that I could rig to my body, but the amount of shop points is just… Anyway, I guess we can only scope things out when we get closer to the city." Eve was also troubled about how she was going to enter. She didn't really have any solid plans. She wondered if she could do the old hide under a vehicle trick, but that would probably not work with all the tech these people have.
Lost in thought, Eve continued her journey, walking day and night. Within X-Cyber City, Lilly was currently putting on some heavy-duty boots, a dark green pair of cargo pants, and what looked like an old military jacket she put on over her hoodie. On her head, she had a pair of goggles with blue lights and green lenses on them that was wired up to a backpack she had hooked on her shoulder. "Tezz, watch the house. I need to head out and scavenge for parts. These damn junkyards raised their prices again! If anyone enters, you know what to do."
"Don't worry, Lilly. If anyone enters, I will blow this place sky high." Tezz replied.
"Just make sure you have escaped before you do, and make sure you take my backup drive! I will die if I lose all my work!" Lilly made sure to emphasize the last part. Her work was her life. She did not want to lose it.
"I will... " Tezz answered but paused for a second before continuing. "Lilly, be careful..."
Lilly turned and looked at Tezz and grinned. "Don't worry, Tezz, your mama will be back!"
Tezz watched as Lilly waved goodbye and walked out the door. She waved her stubby rabbit's paw at the closed door before snorting. "Who's my mama... I guess I should go into lockdown mode..."
Tezz's eyes began to glow blue, and all the equipment in the room began to light up red as the word lockdown scrolled across the screen. A few minutes later, the whole room went dark. Only the blue glow from the stuffed rabbit's eyes could be seen in the blackness of the room. "Lilly, please be safe..."
Lilly climbed the stairs of her basement-dwelling and walked out on the brightly lit city street full of neon lights and holographic projections. She covered her eyes and frowned as she pulled the hood of her hoodie over her head and walked down the street towards a certain shop.
When she pushed open the metal door and walked inside, the smell of oil filled her nose. The sounds of clinking could also be heard as a worker robot walked across the metal shop floor. "Old man, are you in?"
"Huh? Lilly, is that you? You going out again?" An old man's voice was heard coming from the back room.
"Yeah, I need to borrow your loader for a while, can I?" Lilly asked. She didn't move from where she stood since the old man was a real nitpicker when it came to his place. He was always afraid someone was going to move something, and then he would lose it forever.
"I guess, But if you break it, you better fix it again. The card is on the hook by the door." The card he spoke of was nothing more than a key but in card form. It had a certain biosignature that only allowed those inputted into it to use the card.
"Thanks, old man!" Lilly happily turned around, grabbed the card, and headed out the door.
