"I'm not acting, I really wished she could join us. Maybe she'd tell us what you and her were doing before you came here," Madeline said, wiggling her eyebrows at Lawrence.
Lawrence's face flushed from embarrassment, he insisted, "It's not what you think, we did nothing of the sort. We just had a round of archery together."
"Me and Xavier had a round of archery together, look at us now."
"Not everyone can be you and Xavier, Maddie," Lawrence said to her, before he asked, "Also, where is my brother? I presumed he'd be by your side all day, especially since it's your birthday today."
"No idea, he's probably busy," Madeline said.
"Busy on your birthday?" Lawrence questioned.
Briar glared daggers at him, wishing for him to stop talking at once.
