"You're so warm. How are you so warm? I'm freezing," Madeline said, shuddering.
He pulled her closer towards him. She rested her head on his shoulder, snaking her hand down to hold his hand.
"We should do this more often."
"Cuddle?"
"Mhm."
He laughed.
She loved it.
Madeline didn't find her birthday important enough to celebrate, but she appreciated what Xavier and Briar were trying to do.

Lawrence paced his quarters, wondering what to do about Lexie.
Was he supposed to shoo her away? Cut her off? Tell Xavier about her and what an annoyance she was being?
"No, Xavier would only tell me she and I share a lot in common," Lawrence figured.
He wondered why she was being so persistent with him when he had clearly walked away from her and stated he wanted nothing to do with her.
"Or do I have to say it aloud?"
He facepalmed.
