"If you say so," Madeline said, eyeing her dad.
Emilio remained silent, despite knowing that he had lots to say to that woman. But he kept his cool.
"Do you have any plans for your birthday?"
Madeline pursed her lips, "No, no I don't actually. I just want to spend it with the people I care about most."
A faint smile crossed his face. Madeline eyed him.
"What?"
"It's nothing."
"You're turning 24 tomorrow," Emilio said, bringing his hand to his mouth.
His daughter's birthday was tomorrow. Sure, he had stopped celebrating his birthdays once he had hit triple digits, but that didn't mean it wasn't a special day for her.
Besides, who knew what was in store for her tomorrow?
Hours passed by, and Madeline was preparing everything that was needed for the date while dressed comfortably in her favourite lilac pyjamas.
