"I tried interrogating him but he kept his mouth shut, didn't tell me much. All he said was that he was a spellcaster."
"Hm."
"He's with Madeline now," Adrian explained.
"Yeah, he accompanied her back to her quarters," Briar nodded.
"Mhm."
She looked him up and down, the nervousness setting in.
He looked incredible.
Briar wondered to herself, 'Why couldn't he be my soulmate?'
"What do you think of soulmates?" She asked him.
"Why ask this all of a sudden?"
"I don't know, I just thought of this question."
Adrian didn't think too much about it. He answered, "I think soulmates are real."
"So you believe people are destined to find their one true soulmate?" Briar questioned.
"Why are you asking me all this?"
"To pass the time," Briar answered, sounding like she was trying to convince herself more than she was trying to convince Adrian.
"Tell me the real reason," Adrian urged.
