Chereads / The Blood Luna / Chapter 53 - Kitchen Assembly

Chapter 53 - Kitchen Assembly

On our way to the kitchen for meeting up with my parents I was lost in thought. We have 3 hours left until the party starts. That means in 4 or 5 hours my entire life will take on a new path and cause. Here's to 18, I guess. Normal girls, would be hanging out with their friends and family, going out, and having a blast. For my 18 birthday, I'm suppose to turn into the Luna of an entire pack, protecting them and sending us on the path of success, how do you do that? I'm lucky enough to have made a few good friends and I'm lucky to have my parents by my side. We exited the water mirror and Jackson leads the horde to Ravenwood mansion. I can't help feel something is off, like something bad is going to happen. I'll confront my parents one last time about it, before the celebration starts. I'll make sure they don't conceal anything else from me. As we're walking to the front door, I see my familiar wolf spirit guardians. They bow when they see me, I nod back. "Beware, the shift" they say and disappear. "Beware the shift" I whisper back. "What did you say?" I hear Jackson ask. "It's nothing, just talking to myself" Dahila replied. Jackson didn't seem convinced, but I know they're all hiding something. We finally reach the front doors of the mansion. We look like a small well dressed army invading the mansion. Jackson opens the doors to the mansion and we all file in. "I'm going to make them tell me the truth" I said to myself. We make our way to the kitchen where my parents are waiting for us. "Oh wow you all look great!" my mom said. "We almost failed the mission but Luna helped us" Mavis said. That actually made me chuckle. "It was nothing" Dahlia stated. "Dahlia has always been great at helping others" my dad said. The squad nods their head. "Mom, dad, tell me the truth, what's going on, why are the spirit wolves warning me about my shift?" Dahlia asked. My parents look like deers hypnotized by headlights. They look back and forth at each other, like they don't know what lie to come up with now. "Dahlia, we made the necessary preparations, in case any rival Rouge. Vampire or witch, try to crash your party" my dad said. "We have zero confirmation it will take place, so we wanted to be prepared. We didn't want you to have more to worry about" My mom said. "Well my spirit wolves warned me again. I'm glad you prepared for attack but a heads up would have be nice. How can I be an effective Luna, if everyone is going to keep things from me!?" Dahlia stated angrily. "You're right honey we're sorry" My mom stated. "Nevermind, let's just move on" Dahlia said. " We weren't trying to upset you" My dad said. "I'm not upset, it's just getting old, always hiding things from me" Dahlia said. "Luna, it's your birthday, try to relax" Jackson says. I just glare at him for a few seconds until my anger leaves. "You're right, let's do something, until it's time to head to the party" Dahlia stated. Everyone looks like they're thinking of something entertaining to do. "Hey, why do we go to the theater, we can hook up counsel's and play games in teams?!" Phoebe said. Dahlia was actually in love with this idea, it would definitely help ease the tension. "Okay, sounds great, let's go!" Dahlia stated. "Your father and I will stay here and come get you when it's time" my mom said. "Are you sure?" Dahlia asked. "Yes, go have fun with your friends, we have last minute things that need to be done" My mother stated again. "Okay, we will see you soon" Dahlia said. I didn't even realize how fast time was going by, right now I have 2 hours until my birthday party. The horde of guards start taking me down a different corridor of the mansion I've never seen before. "What wing is this?" Dahlia asked. We're in the left wing of the mansion right now" Paige stated. "Oh I see, I've never been yet" Dahlia stated. "Oh really?" Paige replied. "I've spent most my time in the right wing, gym or infirmary" Dahlia said with a chuckle. "The left wing was still under construction not too long ago" Jared started. "Will you shut it" Mavis chimed in. "What's so important about the left wing?" Dahlia asked puzzled. "Luna, it's where the war broke out and where your parents perished" Jackson said. "Oh I see" Dahlia stated. "It's been completely remodeled, and they added a theater" Jackson replied. We walked the rest of the way in silence. You could smell the fresh paint. You could see how flawless the repairs were. At first glace you'd never expect, that it was a blood bath. Even though I couldn't see it, I could still feel the ominous day, down to my bones. "We're here" Jackson said. "After you Luna" He said again. He opened the giant doors to the room and it was beautiful. The room was filled with huge black recliner chairs, and there were multiple big screens mounted to the wall. "What games did you want to play?" Paige asked. "I really don't have any experience with games" Dahlia said. "They have a Wii, we could bowl or play something similar" Jackson said. "Bowling!? Let's do it!" Dahlia said with great enthusiasm. I watched as Jackson plugged in the Wii's and grabbed all the remotes. He hooked up 4 counsel's and remotes were nearly bursting out of his arms. It seemed like Jackson has done this before, he was giving out commands and handing out controllers. "We will break up into 3 teams of 4 and 1 team of 2. I will be on Lunas team, and the rest of you can decide amongst yourselves. Winners get bragging rights and losers gets punishment" Jackson said mischievously. "I'll take that bet!" Dahlia said. "You're on!" the guards yelled. It was pure chaos in the theater. Laughing, and screaming could probably be heard from the mainland. Jackson and I were leading in points. I never knew Jackson was so good at Wii bowling. The guards kept telling me it was beginner's luck. It didn't even seem like we were playing that long before we were interrupted. "It's time to head to the party!" You hear my dad's booming voice through all the commotion. "Already!?" is all I can manage to reply. I didn't even realize an hour and a half passed like a blink of an eye.
