Jessica
-"did you guys say goodbye to the house!" Mom yelled.
I stared at the empty living room in front of me.
-"I'm gonna miss this place"
My brother Sam said.
-"so am I. But we'll have a new start in Chicago" I said trying to give him support.
-"that's what scares me the most"
He sighed and I gave him a hug
-"it will be alright, we're twins we always stay together"
We both nodded and left our house.
-"don't worry guys, our new house is even bigger" dad smiled giving us high hopes.
-"I hope so" I laughed entering the car and moving into the new step in our lives.
After a long trip, we finally arrived at our new house and as Dad said, it was much bigger.
Sam and I came out of the car in shock.
-"Imagine the party we can throw in this house"
-"I know. The ones we had in New York were good but we need to amp it up"
Sam added
-"we are freshmen after all. The school needs to know who we are"
We walked into the house and our mouths never closed.
-"Guys let's bring the luggage in and then you can pick your room," Dad said and we did.
After hours of moving, unpacking, and picking rooms... we finished just a little bit.
I sighed and fell into my bed. The smell of cardboard and plastic was still there after so much unpacking.
The weekend passed and our parents had to go back to Chicago to sort some things out with work which was probably going to last two days.
They only gave us one instruction, no party. But with my planning and Sam's quickness in cleaning, we can do it without them finding out.
It was the perfect opportunity to throw a party. I don't know anyone here in Chicago. I have to introduce myself to a lot of people today.
I joined Sam who was eating breakfast.
-"there's still milk left if you want cereal" he pointed at the fridge.
-"Thanks," I said walking to the fridge and grabbing the milk.
I started to eat my cereal and I grabbed my phone. I typed in the number of our driver and called him.
He is going to pick us up in a few minutes.
-"you almost ready?" I asked Sam and he nodded.
-"let me finish here and I'll wait by the door.
He stood up and cleaned his plate.
After eating, I did the same and reunited with Sam at the door. The driver was already there. He greeted us with a smile.
-"look at both of you starting your freshman year at high school. But your parents specifically told me to take pictures of you"
We both groaned.
-"I thought we escaped that this year"
I said and stood next to Sam.
-"smile wide!" He said and took the picture.
He opened the door for us and we entered the car.
We arrived at the school and it was huge. Filled with students greeting their friends or people wandering just as lost as us.
We exited the car and next to us was a girl arguing with her mother about not going to some art school.
We kept walking and entered the school building.
-"I hope we have classes together"
Sam said.
-"I hope so too"
Do people know who we are here? Because my parents were pretty known for their entrepreneurial job and success.
Wonder if people recognize me.
A girl bumped into me.
-"oh, I'm so sorry"
She said in a soft tone checking up on me.
-"it's fine, I'm not hurt"
I said and she laughed awkwardly then rubbed my shoulder.
-"I'm sorry, I'm just too paranoid when I meet new people. I'm Florine"
She had an accent very peaceful one. And her attire... she wore a white dress with sleeves that reached her hands and brown boots.
-"I'm Jessica, this is Sam" I pointed at him and he smiled at her.
-"Nice knowing you, I should go. Still don't know where my classroom is"
She tucked her hair behind her ear and left.
-"she's... something"
Sam said staring at her as she walked away.
-"she's nice"
We grabbed our schedules and we had two classes together. I groaned and he shrugged lightly.
-"guess the power duo is separated for a while. Guess I'll meet new people," he said and I agreed.
-"remember to invite people to our party" I added and he smiled widely.
-"Ohh, I will"
We separated and went into our first classes.
Sam
I can't believe I found my first classroom that easily.
I entered the classroom and people were already on their seats catching up with people they knew, or meeting them for the first time.
The only available seat was at the back of the classroom.
I sighed and I sat on the back.
I crossed my arms waiting for the class to start.
-"hey you, prince" somebody threw an eraser at my shoulder.
-" hey, what are you doing?" I asked annoyed and they laughed.
A person with green hair and this boy with a confused look on his face were the ones who threw me the eraser.
"What's a guy like you doing here on the back?" He asked.
I showed him all the seats and they were full.
-"ahhh, odd one out" He winced and laughed.
-"it's not funny," I said, holding a laugh
"Anyways, this is Jodi, they go by they and I'm Christian"
He pointed at the person next to him and they waved at me.
-"I'm Sam Michaels"
-"Michaels as in entrepreneur Michaels?" Jodi asked excitedly.
I nodded. Surprising that someone knows about me.
-"If you're so excited, wait till both of you come to a party my sister and I are throwing" I offered and they looked at each other.
-"a party?" Jodi asked Christian
-" We've never been invited to one, should we go?" Christian asked and they nodded.
"See you there," Christian said and I smiled and he smiled back. There's something about his smile, it's pretty.
The teacher started talking and class started.
Jessica
First-class started and the teacher was introducing themself.
Someone was trying to get my attention.
-"psst, psst, psst"
I was getting annoyed and I turned around lightly.
What did this guy behind me want?
-"You're Jessica Michaels. My girlfriend and I follow you on Insta" He whispered.
-"Thanks," I said and turned around.
-"wait, can you have lunch with us later? My girlfriend will die when she sees you" he offered and I agreed.
-"sure, I see why not"
He thanked me and I continued to pay attention to the class.
The class ended and as I was leaving the classroom this girl stopped me.
-"I wouldn't sit with him at lunch"
She wore this black tank top and some fluffy leopard pants.
-"why because?" I asked confused.
-"he and his girlfriend Lillie are bad news. Sit with me at lunch and you'll see how they treat me"
-"you want me to experiment on people I don't know?"
She nodded
-"I know them longer than you do"
I'll try to test them, I don't even know them. Maybe she's right?
She walked with me to the next class.
Classes were the same I sat next to Sam in the ones we had together and we kept inviting people to our party. It was gonna be huge.
Lunchtime
Sam wanted to eat by himself which was weird I sat next to Crown, that was her name by the way.
We ate burgers and she pulled out a black notebook with ribbons glued on to them in a fancy way.
-"What's that?" I asked
-"my designs, look" she was about to open her notebook and closed it quickly.
-"you're not a designer are you?"
She asked suspiciously and I shook my head.
-"good I don't want anyone stealing my designs"
Her designs were pretty cool and versatile. She had every category of clothes there, from dresses, jeans and, suits.
-"Aww, you just can't stop bringing your coloring book to school can't you?" A girl stood in front of our table.
-"what do you want Lillie?" Crown asked annoyed.
-"Just saw you sitting with Jessica Michaels. Jessica, sweetie, why don't you sit with us. We have an empty chair" she showed me the seat and Dominick the guy that talked to me in class waved at me.
I looked at Crown and she frowned.
-"I'm sorry, Lillie, I'm having lunch with Crown here"
Crown smiled softly when I said that.
-"you guys are so boring" Lillie rolled her eyes and returned to her seat. She started whispering something in Dominick's ear.
-"thank you so much. I can't believe I just saw someone reject Lillie Townsend with my own eyes"
-"there's always a place for history"
I said and she laughed.
-"Where have you been in my life Jessica?"
She asked and I shrugged.
Sam
I am currently at the library reading a book I brought from home "roses from the bed" it's so good.
I haven't made a solid friend here. I met those two at the first period but they look like acquaintances more than friends. But that one guy's smile stayed with me for the rest of the class periods before lunchtime.
That's one of the things I'm passionate about, love, especially the one is books. The way the character falls in love with the love interests, is so amazing to witness.
When will my love interest come to me?
-"you ok over there?" A voice asked.
Some guy peeked through the bookshelf
-"are you alright?" He asked again.
-"I'll be more alright if you show who you are," I said and the guy revealed himself.
-"I'm Charley, looks like you need a friend"
-"it's ok, I like reading in silence"
I showed him my book.
-"kinda boring to spend the entire hour here by yourself. Want to walk around with me?" He asked with a little bit of hope. His eyes shined through his glasses.
-"no but, thank you for asking"
He frowned and walked away.
And then I complain about being alone. I just rejected a possible friend.
Good one, Sam.
It's almost time for class so I gather my things and I leave.
Jessica
School's finally over. I find Sam as soon as I can. I saw him on the outside of school.
-"Hey Sam! I shout and he turns around confused.
-"huh... Jessica!" He said happily
-"We need to get ready for the party"
I said and he smiled
-"let's go then"
Our driver took us home and we decorated the place as fast as we could. The guests were going to arrive at six.
-"we invited so many people. Wonder how mom and dad will react?" Sam said
-"let's not worry about that, they are twelve hours away. By the time they come back, we will have the house spotless"
The doorbell rings and I give Sam a huge grin.
-"they're here"
To be continued...
