---That Evening---
"How bad is it?", I asked Shizuka and Yuko as I returned from dealing with the horde that came through the portal.
"To be blunt...I am amazed these people are alive.", Yuko replied wiping the blood off her hands, "We have done what we can, honestly though I won't be the least bit surprised if a few of them die. Do we know where they came from? It looks like they have been through hell, and have been starved for about a week or so."
"That fissure likely has ties to the GATE fragments that Umbrella is using.", I said trying to make seem like a guess, "My theory is they are from the other side of the Gate, as to how they got here...maybe magic?"
"Magic?", Yuko asked me with a questioning look, "That's an outrageous suggestion."
"Not really...I mean look how some of them are dressed?", Shizuka pointed out, "Either they were at an event, or they are actual mages. It would be fun if they were, I could fly maybe!"
"You'd crash.", Yuko laughed.
"You don't have to be so mean!", Shizuka pouted, "A girl can dream!"
Using my system to check on Piña and company, it was clear that Italica got hit hard. At this point I wasn't sure if it was due to the Demons or some other entity on their side, but whatever it was enough to beat Rory to a near death state. If my memory was correct is should have been nearly impossible to pull off which implied the person who did it was almost on par with a God. All of them were unconscious at the moment though so we weren't going to get answers anytime soon. Leaving some medical staff to watch over them for a while, the three of us turned in for the night. Having rushed home ahead of me, Chun-Li and Cammy had already moved their belongings in and were drinking with Rika. Swapping stories from their days on the force, they were tearing apart their superiors verbally for all the crap they endured.
Seeing several cans of beer on the table, I knew immediately knew that we were going to need a brewery. At the rate three of them alone chugged it down...we would be out of beer in a month, that included what I had in storage. Reminding them to pace themselves, they told me that they could handle it and that I was being naggy. In reality all I wanted to make sure was that I didn't get puked on tonight or that they didn't spend the night in the bathroom moaning in pain. Stepping into the kitchen to help prepare dinner, I enjoyed the time I spent with the cooks while having a bit of mischief at their expense. Eating our meal while going over the day's events, I was only partially listening as I was preoccupied with bigger news.
'I saw several mages in that group, this is my chance to finally get some motherfucking magic!!', I thought hiding my excitement behind Poker Face, 'Once I get access to magic I can kick upgrading our settlement into overdrive. My biggest concern though is whether or not magic would work here as I can't remember if it did so in the series.'
Noticing that I was preoccupied, Saeko decided to tease me a bit after the harassment I gave her in the kitchen.
"Something wrong Victor?", Saeko snickered, "You aren't thinking about one of those women next door are you? The blonde woman was in your strike range, right?"
"No, I am thinking about the fact that several of those people looked like mages.", I answered with a grin, "Once they wake up, we need to confirm if it's true. If it is, that takes our survival up several notches. There is possibility of making enchanted weapons, gear, and even teaching us how to use magic. Imagine how much more we could do with magic!"
"You honestly think they are mages?", Saya questioned, "How do you know they weren't Dungeons & Dragons players?"
"How do you know about that?", Yuriko questioned with chuckle, "I don't remember you having an interest in that."
"Well I...I thought...well maybe I could beat Victor at it.", Saya said getting quieter.
"Always trying to find a way to one up me.", I chuckled patting her on the head.
"Shut up...", she pouted while hiding a smile.
Laughing at her response, I was going to take another bite of dinner when I heard one of the nurses next door scream. Dashing out the door with The Crucible in hand, I barged into the clinic to see that two of the soldiers had woken up. They were disorientated given their entrance into our world, but what they were doing currently was unacceptable. Having the nurses at knife point, they went to give me orders but quickly found themselves shaking in fear. Starting them down, the mental pressure I was exerting on them cause them to panic and not make any sudden moves. Dropping their blades, the men stumbled backwards away from me in fear. Telling the nurses to step out, I grabbed one of the men by the collar.
"Listen soldier, don't you dare lay your hands on woman anywhere near me. You are in my settlement so you play by my rules.", I growled, "Do I make myself clear?"
Giving me a confused look, I remembered I didn't have his language in my system yet so he wasn't understanding me. Getting him to speak a few words was all it took for me to add the language, and repeat myself. Nodding their heads this time, they seemed to understand me now.
"My apologies...we thought we had been captured.", he gulped as I let him go, "We weren't paying attention to what we were doing, we moved on instinct."
"You should be happy you didn't injure one of them...I would kill you if you did.", I replied with a threatening smile, "On the topic of where you are, you stumbled into our world this afternoon. Mind telling me what happened, and how you all ended up in this bad of shape? This woman here is a Demigoddess right? Harming her this bad isn't an easy feat to pull off."
Stating that it all started a few months ago, a Goddess named Hardy tried opening a GATE to another world but instead opened a portal to a hellish place full of Devils. Realizing her mistake she tried to close it, but it was too late. The Devils poured through the portal like a flood, and soon the surrounding area was turned into a similar landscape. Combining the forces of all the neighboring nations, the military went to engage the enemy...only a few men came back.
"It was like watching a nightmare unfold...", his comrade shrieked, "Dead bodies laying everywhere, children screaming for their parents, and the sound of bodies being...oh gosh."
Looking like he was about to vomit, I told him I got the point. He didn't need to relieve those painful memories for me to understand how badly they were overrun. Calming himself down for a moment, he continued his story. When the military returned the enemy wasn't far behind them trampling everything they saw beneath their feet.
"Princess Piña was left in charge after her brothers and father were slaughtered by the enemy nearly two weeks ago...when the capital was overrun.", the second man told me, "We were forced to retreat to Italica where earlier today, maybe yesterday, we were assaulted by the enemy. They came for us like a sea of fury that we have never seen before."
"What do you know about the Devils?", I asked out of curiousity.
"They are led by one called the Nameless One. He wears a massive suit of armor that looks made of the bodies of his slain foes. His red piercing eyes make even the bravest man cower like a newborn...", he whispered like he was here, "I...I saw him only once, he slew a Fire Dragon with a wave of his hand!! The Apostle Rory fought him, and he is the one that left her in this state. If it were for a surprise volley he would have cut her head off like a few other Apostles."
"I understand, he hasn't made an appearance in this world to my knowledge. We have our own issue on this side, this world is overrun by undead.", I informed him, "That and the same Devils you saw."
"So we are doomed to die here...", he gulped.
Pulling a Baron of Hell's head out of storage, I showed it to the man.
"No, I can kill them very easily. The ones that followed you through the portal are already dead.", I informed him, "I killed them a few hours ago while you were unconscious."
"Truly!!!", he shouted hugging me without any care as he started to cry like a child, "We thought all hope was lost, even the Apostles were barely able to fight the Devils. If you are able to kill them, we may be able to take our homes back."
"Assuming we can get back to your world. Our world had a GATE, but it was destroyed centuries ago by a volcanic eruption.", I informed him, "It's in pieces now, and I don't know how to put it together."
"Surely Master Cato will know how to help!!", he remarked before looking around, "Where is he?"
"The people you see in this room are all the ones that came through the portal.", I stated not wanting to point him out for fear he'd think something was wrong, "Is he one of the people here?"
"Yes, that older gentleman is Master Cato.", they replied.
Looking around the room for the first time since waking up, he realized exactly what had happened. Seeing the faces of his injured comrades something seemed to click in his head. Suddenly the last few moments in their world came flooding back to him.
"We...we were trying to use teleportation magic to escape to the next stronghold, but something went wrong...", he said unable to remember the last few seconds, "Henry, do you remember what happened?"
"No I don't...everything is a blur...", his comrade groaned, "I remember the Gates to the city were breached, and everyone was running in a panic. After that...I can't remember what happened."
Unable to give me the last few details of their time there, all I got out of them was that Italica was attacked and they tried to flee. As for how them fleeing got them here...I had no information on. Most likely it was a mix of a miss casted spell, and Argent Energy that warped them here.
"Midna, you got anything?", I asked telepathically.
"No, as far as I know this wasn't supposed to happen. You were eventually supposed to go to there side to help, and it wasn't supposed to get this bad over there...", Midna said with concern, "I will reach out to the big boss, and see what answer I get."
"The big boss?", I inquired, "Whose that?"
"Well...actually the big boss is retiring and the new guy taking over is the one I am calling.", Midna told me, "I will let you know what I find out, he's got his hands full fixing a lot of things and handling a large family...like you will in the future."
"You mean he has a large harem too?", I asked.
"Haha, larger than yours like two hundred...I think?", she said not sure if that was accurate.
"Two hundred!?", I gasped, "Who the hell is having kids with that many women!!"
"You will one day too, humanity is going to need to repopulate.", she snickered sticking her tongue out.
"Like hell!!", I spat as I watched her disappear.
Disappearing into my shadow to make her call I turned to the men again. Asking if either of them were capable of using healing magic, they shook their heads saying they weren't mages or healers. Checking the status of the people, it looked like a few others would wake up shortly. Walking back over to my home, I told the women I would be back later as a few of the people woke up and were disoriented. Nodding their heads they told me not to stay too long as they had need of me this evening.
Telling them it was my top priority, Yuriko and Yuko said they had special outfits for tonight...of the lacey variety. Giving them a big grin, I swore to be back in two hours or less. Closing the door behind me, I used Poker Face to hide the big grin on my face. Returning to the clinic, Rory and Lelei were both awake now along with Piña's trusted friend Bozes. Walking into the room again, Rory glanced over at me with a mischievous smile.
"You are the one I remember seeing when we fell from the sky.", she laughed, "Who is your Patron Deity?"
"Yes, I caught you before you hit the ground. Most of you would be dead the moment you hit the rocks. Also, I don't have a Patron Deity...", I replied, 'Oh boy...that's the same smile she gave Itami when she first met him, and sat on his lap.'
"What's your name?", Rory asked me.
"Victor, you are?", I inquired playing along.
"You know who I am, you aren't fooling me.", she grinned, "I am Rory the Reaper, Apostle of Emroy."
'She knows off the bat I am not human...Interesting.', I thought.
Asking her what she meant, she informed me that I had the presence of a Demigod. Telling me that I reminded her of the other Apostles, she looked around for Giselle. Not seeing her comrade, she asked me where she was. Telling her that I didn't see her when they fell, she gave me a concerned look.
"If she wasn't with us, that means she was left the face the hordes alone.", Rory said with a serious look, "Are you able to send us back? I can see about getting you some sort of payment."
"Our world doesn't have magic, or at least none of us know how to use magic.", I told her with a serious look, "Besides which, my world has an Undead and Demon problem at the moment. Our world has lost several billion people."
"Billion!?", Bozes gasped in shock.
"Yes, a company on our side caused this nightmare on our side.", I answered, "They unleashed a deadly virus on our world that has turned people into Undead Monsters that attack the living."
Getting them caught up on what I had told the two soldiers, Rory asked what I was. Telling her I was a race known as a High Human, I said that she wasn't the first to notice that I wasn't normal.
"So a Patron Deity must have given you your powers, yes?", she pressed me, "Who is your Patron Deity?"
"I-", I said not sure if I should tell her.
Before I could give an answer, the world around us froze. Looking around it was as if time stopped with just Rory and I able to move. Hearing the door to the clinic open, a man walked in with one hell of a badass suit of armor. Noticing the signature Superman logo on his chest, I asked him if he was Superman.
"Haha, I am a version of him. My name is Clark Wayne, and Midna gave me a call that something was going on here.", he told me.
"Clark Wayne...you like a combination of Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent?", I questioned.
"You aren't the first to say that, every DC World I go to I like teasing the Superman and Batman there with it.", Clark laughed with a smile, "So Rory, if he has a Patron Deity I would be it. He is a Reincarnated Person from Another World, I forbid you from telling anyone without his expressed permission."
"I...I understand.", she said meekly seeming to sense how strong he was.
My system showed every stat of us as infinite, and the list of skills and abilities was too much for me see.
"I apologize, but I don't have a lot of time to stay here. My daughters have a play that I promised my wives I would be in attendance for.", Clark told me, "The reason your world is experiencing these effects is due to my actions in fighting Omniverse level threats several centuries back. If I am being honest, your death was partially due to my actions. You weren't supposed to die, but when I killed Nekron the timelines sort of reset differently. I apologize to you for that."
"Nekron is bad freaking news, you don't have to apologize. I didn't like that job anyways.", I laughed remembering how dangerous he was in the comics.
"We are getting off topic, the entity causing the issues here now is the Nameless One you are familiar with and your biological father. The Deity that screwed your world up has been dealt with appropriately.", Clark informed me, "I apologize for him taking his frustration out on you."
"Good riddance!!", I shouted, "So you are going to handle it?"
"No, people like you were selected because you could assist me. Sure I could solve everything myself, but the Presence has told me I should let somethings be handled by others. In this case, you are here and are more than equipped to kill the Nameless One.", Clark said, "That said, I do have a gift for you on me."
Suddenly my HUD started to fill with notifications as items, books, and above all the Meteor Strikes were added to my system. Scrolling through the list of items I got, it was everything that Satou got immediately after slaying the Dragon God and his minions.
"What the hell!!", I shouted.
"Consider it a payment for the future work you'll be doing.", Clark chuckled, "Assuming you choose to accept it."
"Future work?", I questioned nervously, "I kind of have my hands full trying to keep everyone here fed, protected, and secure."
"Victor, I need you to save this world and the world on the other side of the GATE. They need you as much as this world does.", he told me, "The other side of the Gate isn't equipped to fight the Demons. There is a reason you got the title Doom Slayer, you are the one best suited to help them."
"It sounds like you have given this speech to a lot of people...", I laughed dryly.
"Well...I have met four other people like you. All of them agreed to be my subordinates, and are working to repair the damage to the Omniverse.", he stated, "You have the ability to be a fifth of you want. If you choose to only focus on these two worlds though, I won't-"
"Wait!!", I stated, "If I killed the Nameless One, could you make my lovers live alongside me till the day I die?"
"I mean...sure, I get where you are coming from. I did the same thing for my lovers.", Clark said nodding his head, "You mean make them immortal right, you won't die of old age."
"Oh...well then yes!", I told him, "I really don't want to bury them..."
"Sure, I will regress them physically back into their twenties as well.", he remarked with a smirk, "Midna will let me know when you have completed that."
With that he left the room, and time started to flow normally once again.
