Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

25/11/3062

"Mommy?"

The child under three feet pushed open the door, a chilling creak sounded. The bedroom lights were off, making the scene darker.

" I... There's a lot of noise out there."

The boy lowered his tone of voice, whispering as if he shared a secret.

"I saw it, it was the boogeyman."

The woman the boy was talking to was sitting on the bed, her back bent like a shrimp, next to her, there was the child's father who seemed to be sleeping peacefully.

Seeing that his mother did not answer the boy had a bad feeling.

She walked slowly to the mattress, unconsciously, her eyes watched over the woman.

"Daddy?"

The little boy's heart was tight, he used his fat hands to tightly hold the edges of his patterned pajamas.

For a second he looked away from his mother to observe the man in bed.

"Daddy?"

"What the hell ?..."

Zan stared at his reflection as if he saw a stranger.

His eyes were no longer the opaque black ever, his color had changed to a bright red. His hair was also different, now he was white, not a dark strand could be seen.

Zan stared at his face for another time and touched every inch of his pale skin in search of another invisible change.

Oh, I'm colder.

Grrr...

Walking away from the mirror with a wry smile Zan consoled himself internally, he hadn't died yet, right? Then it shouldn't be anything too serious.

When he woke up he felt something was wrong, Zan was rarely hungry in the morning, his stomach complained only at lunchtime, he could skip breakfast freely.

Today, he woke up so hungry that his stomach came to hurt, it was the second time his belly snored, the only solution was to eat earlier.

He looked around the room looking for something specific, his look landed in a pair of jeans thrown on the floor, she was as battered as the one he was wearing now.

Picking up the fallen piece, Zan scoured his back pockets for at least one coin. When the feeling of paper hit his long fingers he sighed feeling miserable.

" If you're here forgotten and likely to be a note of... 15! No, 10 racs!"

He pulled the paper out of his pocket as if he were in a year-end draw, making suspense for the non-existent audience in the room.

As he predicted, there were ten racs.

He worked as a dog this month to get less than a thousand racs on the bill. Your savings all spent on bills and debts.

"It's not enough for a decent food but I can buy noodles."

...

The streets of city F were strangely empty, na unusual fact because the city was known for its overcrowding.

Zan looked around confused.

Is today a holiday? No, even if it was, there'd still be people on the street.

He felt the air was morbid, the ad plates that were supposed to be colored looked opaque...

Zan pulled on his hood so that he could better hide his face and walked to the convenience store.

There was something wrong, but he had a priority now.

When it stopped in front of the store, the automatic door made a familiar *ding before it started moving.

Zan looked inside the store, his eyes fell on a figure still in front of one of the promotion shelves.

"..."

"Fuck?"
