"What A Wonderful World"
By Louis Armstrong
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Somewhere in the eastern borders of the Land of Fire, 13 years ago...Â
The young Uchiha shook in terror at the view in front of him. She was murdered in front of his eyes. By his friend, his role model, the one she loved. The pain and shock have awoken his Mangekyou Sharingan, but why would he care now? She is gone... The love of his life... His glimmer of hope... His only will to live... gone...Â
… Forever...Â
The traitor who killed Rin collapsed where he stood, next to Rin's lifeless body. A few seconds later, a dozen Kiri bodies circled Kakashi, Rin, and him...
"Where am I …"
"... in hell…"
The blood pool under his feet confirmed it, or did it? This was not hell, that - is the reality, the real world, the World of the Living. Was it? She is dead. So is this truly the World of the Living?
... Why...?Â
... Why... Her?Â
... Why could not he die with her... or in her place?Â
"...In a Dream, everything goes the way you want…
...You can even make dead people come back to life…"
Madara's teaching faintly arose from the depts of his mind. A thousand ants pricked under his skin. Dry air burned his lungs, gravity pinned him to the cold ground - Obito trembled like a child.
The young apprentice kneeled and tried to gently touch the lover he never got the chance to have. His hand ghostly slipped right through her skin. In his third attempt, he was finally able to reach her. She is warm as if she was only asleep and can wake up any moment now. And tell him how much she missed him and how happy she is to see him alive...Â
But she was dead...Â
Her lifeless limbs hung down and fell on the cold hard ground...Â
She will never open her eyes...Â
She will never call his name...Â
She will never smile for him, or at all...Â
She will never comfort him or anyone else...Â
She will never embrace him...Â
He will never tell her he loved her...Â
She will remain 14, forever, while he will live and grow old, alone...
'Why???' his hands madly tramble.
'Why did she have to die???' his stomach is turning out of pain, and his tears silently rain and land on her paling cheeks and lips. She was so beautiful and dead, so close yet unreachable. She is here, yet at the same time, she isn't.Â
He passionately kissed her lips, it was the first and last kiss he will ever have, ever wish to have. No woman in the world would ever interest him, Rin - was the only one for him, his soulmate, his dream... unattainable... till the end of times...
'...Rin is dead…' the thought repeated over and over again.
'...Rin is dead…' sobbing harshly, the boy lost his grip on it, unable to stop weeping.
'...Rin is dead…'
"Rin... I will... I will create a world where you're alive."
'With no war or death, so we could live there together.' He swore an oath, not only will he avenge her, but he will make the world better, for her sake, in honour of her memory…
Jumping up the son of the White Fang was taken by the hysteria of his teammate's action...Â
'Why?'
'We had a chance to escape, to get help, to save her…' But she chose death, making him a murderer... He is a killer... A murderer…
'Murderer…'
'Dirty, ugly murderer…'
'You could have been faster, smarter…'Â
'You were supposed to save her, not kill her…' His inner demon mocked.
'Murderer…'
'Murderer…'
'Murderer…'
'Murderer…'
'Murderer…'
His mind went blank while vision blurred, goosebumps abruptly covering his skin. Rin loved him, and he killed her with his own hands, he had feelings for her, maybe not as strong as hers, but he had.Â
'Obito…'
He was the sole survivor of their team now, remembering the Uchiha who granted him his Sharingan, a heavy feeling of a thick stone stuck in his throat choked him.
'They will be together now like Obito always wanted... He loved her so much... Now they can be together…'
Snapping back to reality, Kakashi noticed the river of death around him. Searching for Rin, his wet eyes spotted a foreign figure that did not fit the past event. Rin was not lying on the ground - a person held her in his arms. He wore a long black cloak and had untidy long dark hair.Â
'Is he crying?' Kakashi heard a muffled weeping voice next thing he knew, the intruder looked directly at him with a blood-red flashing right eye.Â
"KAKASHI!!!" He yelled. "YOU WILL PAY FOR WHAT YOU JUST DID!!!" Anger and sorrow mixed in his trembling voice.Â
Kakashi's palms became heavy and sweaty, his pulse rising, chilling wind covering him in a cold sweat.
"N... No! I... It... It can't be…" The silver-haired boy cried.Â
"You're..... You ..... You're dead…"
