Noah didn't speak after that and even Lia didn't bother to ask him anything even though her mind was flooded with a lot of doubts and questions. He seemed to be a little angry and pissed off so asking anything would be like inviting hurt and pain. Lia looked at the number of big building all around her and the couple of people walking by the side of the road. Everything seemed well organized and planned, too perfect that no one would break it making her feel congested.
She saw a little girl who was walking to the building with her grandmother, holding hands and slightly swaying her pretty frock as her pony tail moved either side rhythmically. Another couple walking out of the building and him holding her by her waist and she had a bandage on her hands which she carefully held out. Some people who just jumped out of a big vehicle and crying as they pushed a person in bed to the building.
She felt dizzy seeing the blood dripping down the man as he was rushed inside and the loud cries making her heart hurt. She sighed and looked back inside the car to see Noah still resting with his eyes closed and lips partly agape. He looked really soft and warm. too calm and contained even in the worst situation. Her eyes travelled down his face to his outfit which totally made him look like one of the locals.
He wore a grey shirt or something and a shorts which none of the werewolves wear in their realm. In fact, they used to wear only some of their traditional until one day, when the oldest werewolf of their pack returned from human world. He was the one who introduced some of the outfits that the human use and helped to build house and palace. He made the pack look a little more composed or else they would have really been nomads.
"Am I that good looking?" Noah asked as he tossed his head to the side to face her.
"Uhh?" Lia immediately pulled her eyes off from the intense stare and looked down.
"If you have anything to say, save it for later. Now, listen to me and stay where I ask you to." He comforted her but at the same time, gave a warning too.
"What do you mean by that? This is not like I forced you to take me here with you or like I asked for your help. You pulled me in here all by yourself, against my will so I deserve to know what is even happening here."
"I did bring you here because of this." He answered pointing at her stomach.
"Why do you care about my cubs so much? Planning to be their father and take over the place of Alpha?" Lia asked the unexpected question.
To be honest, she had no intention in asking that but the boy kept provoking her that it rolled off her tongue without asking her permission. The moment those words reached his ears, he gave her a look, which was not explainable... a look of disgust or total annoyance and a little surprised. He kept his gaze on her, expecting her to change what she just said but she was even more shocked to even breath.
"I can't believe that I am stuck with someone like you." He huffed as he got out of the car and sat in the passenger seat in the front.
"Hey, why would you do that?" Lia asked kicking his seat.
"You are hurting my leg more." He groaned as he adjusted the seat to a little more front noticing Ren approaching them.
"Hmm, ready to go?" She asked sitting next to Noah and securing the seat belt.
"Yea." He answered as he observed how she did the belt and proceeded to do so for himself.
"Should I help?" Ren asked but she anyways took the belt from his hands and buckled it for him without even waiting for his reply.
Lia was gritting her teeth really hard, almost at the verge of breaking it seeing the girl being all lovey dovey to the boy. Noah surprisingly had a pleasant and happy face when Ren came in as if they were the ones who knew each other from before. Ren looked at Lia through the front mirror and scoffed as she started the engine making a sudden roar.
"What is happening?" Lia asked as she held onto Noah's seat at the unexpected jerk.
"It is fine." he mouthed to her as he held her hands in his which she was holding onto his seat rest.
"I will dive slowly so it is fine, just lean back to the seat and hold on to the side bar." Ren said as she started the vehicle and locked the door.
Noah took his hands off her and allowed her to lean back to the seat. He was checking her subtly through the rare view mirror but didn't react to her scared state. He was of course worried about her but it was all because of the cubs. He didn't want the cubs to go through any trouble just like he and his brother did. The night, where he couldn't save his brother and watch him die right in front of him.
He could still hear the cries and screams f his mother, ringing in him asking for a help which was never heard by anyone. He wished that he was strong but the little human couldn't even move at that state and watching his father disappear into thin air. The way his mother fell unconscious right next to him as she called for her younger son for the one last time and the fire dividing them into two horizons. That was the last memory that he had of his brother and father.
"Hey, are you okay?" Ren asked noticing the tear roll down his honey bread cheeks.
"Hmm." He just hummed as his hands immediately soaked the wetness from his cheeks and he pressed his hands on the grey tee shirt making it wet.
"Does your leg hurt?" She asked again hoping to get an answer from him.
"No." He answered briefly as he looked outside.
