"Long ago," the dark floating blob started," the world had only a handful of races, none of which had any resemblance to a humanoid kind of body. Those races who used to rule the world were incredibly powerful, they are called The Ancient Races. One day, some conflict occurred between three of them. Those three were the most powerful in their fields of expertise, them being stealth, wisdom, and brute strength respectively. The reason for the conflict was long since forgotten, the only left trace of their all-out battle is the land you are standing on and the mass destruction you see. The battle was a great one, but unfortunately, it led the three races to the brink of extinction. It was a blood bath, as humans say, death was lurking everywhere, and even bystanders of other races nearby were in great danger from the intense energy coming from the battlefield. It took a week to tire out each race, and then each of them retreated, leaving the bodies of their comrades in hopes that it would reflourish the lands. The mana mixed with the souls gathered and, using the hundreds of thousands of bodies as a catalyst, a new "life form" was born. A month after the battle ended, the three races sent their armies back into the battlefield, this time consisting of their very best soldiers, an elite force. When they got to the very middle of the wrecked land, they were all stunned at what they saw. A mountain of corpses piled like rocks, and above them was a humungous orb of what seemed like darkness, but more frighteningly, what was most definitely the souls of those very bodies it rest upon. They circled then met upon a single entity, which though incomplete, had enough consciousness to realise the existence of these elite soldiers. And as it seemed to take notice of them, chills were sent down their spines, and they retreated. Days later, the troops headed back to the entity, this time thought, marched together, and with their kings in the lead. But, they were far too late to investigate or negotiate. The entity was not only completely alive now, but he also gave life to the hundreds of thousands of corpses. Outnumbered and completely overpowered, the united force of the three races was annihilated, leaving the world completely shocked. From that point on, most of the ancient races either disappeared mysteriously or picked a fight with the entity and its people and got annihilated. Eventually, not a single race was left, and so the entity decided to rebuild this world. He made more humanoid bodies and made them into the same thing as it. Eventually, and as the entity thought would happen, races branched. These races were the same as the ones you currently know, the demons, the beastkin, and the humans. The entity named itself a devil, and the race became known as the devil race. But, all good things must come to an end eventually, and one day the first human skill-holder was born, and not too long after the first personal magic appeared. And eventually, the humans and demons stopped worshipping the devils. The devils thought did not care, the problem on their minds now was way more important. Devils, you see, had no concept of ageing and were now bored of living. So as their king, the original entity decided to use his power to give rest to his subordinates and himself, thus creating me and this barrier. He also split his power into three parts, hoping that one day another devil would come to take his place."
I was shocked about all these things, but what surprised me more is how easily I understood it all." So, if skills are the power derived from devils, how come they are useless?" The blob's blue "mouth" moved slightly, as if amused at the question, then said," They aren't, humans simply are too primitive to figure out how to use them, so they labelled them as useless."At the moment, too much was going through my brain, and I just had to get this one thing clear first, so I asked, "Why...why did I not die when entering the barrier?" The blob sighed as if tired of something and said, "Well your skill of course, dumbass. I already told you that the entity called the devil split his power into three. First is the spirit mind, which helps you govern the power and take full advantage of his ability, Second, is the actual ability, which can take multiple forms depending on the race it appears in. And lastly, the key to activate the power, which I hold." It took me a bit to understand what he was trying to say, but then it hit me," I have the power as a skill...?" The blob sighed and said, "Well you not having the celestial mind makes things a bit harder. Anyway, I'll explain the situation you've been put in. You either die of starvation, or I will turn you into a devil."
" Wait what? what do you mean by "turn me into a devil"?" I asked scared. The blob seemed to ignore my comment, perhaps he expected it, and continued to explain," And since you are probably wondering about the meaning of turning you into a devil...I already told you that your skill is the entity's power, and I hold the power's key along with all the abilities and knowledge of the rest of the devil race. So by mixing our existences slightly, you will be able to use the entity's lost power. Since I am a consciousness of souls mushed together, the mana and soul concentration will make you a devil. In the beginning, I was also supposed to be a storage of all the powers of the devil race, and you would be able to use them. Unfortunately, since your appearance and entrance to this place took longer than expected, you can only grant them. Als-" " STOP FOR A BIT, I DONT GET IT", I interrupted confused. The blob let out a sigh, seeming slightly angry, then said" Ah damn it whatever, if we fuse ill explain it to you bit by bit, now choose from what I've already told you." The blob seemed to expect me to choose this fairly quickly for some reason. Well, to be honest, it isn't that hard of a choice, in the end, I came here to die so choosing that would be the only reasonable choice...but I'm really curious as to what he means by becoming a devil. Worst case scenario I'll die, which is the first choice."AAAAAAAAAAH WHATEVER SURE LETS FUSE. I DON'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT TOO MUCH."I yelled. "Alright kid, get ready," said the blob. In a second my eyes started burning, most severely in my left eye, I covered it instinctively and then looked at the blob. The small, perhaps cute blob, was stretching incredibly and covered me up, creating what seemed to be a barrier around me. And I lost consciousness.....
