Chapter 31 - Welcome to Hunters Academy

[-In The Pride Mansion-]

Seated on his chair, Richard Pride was surrounded by his sons.

"Father? Are you sure that it was the right thing to do?" Alec questioned his father's decision to let their only sister accept the invitation of the Hunters Academy.

For many years, since the death of Richard Pride's beloved wife, they have rejected the invitation of the Hunters Academy to train a member or any representative from the Pride Family.

But this time around, it was something different.

Butler Alfredo was standing on the side. He was watching his masters ponder on Scarlett's new path in life.

"Knowing how dangerous it is? Especially on the selection process, when they try to welcome the newbies," Alec continued to complain and question their decision.

"We cannot protect her from everything. Even if we try to surround her with bodyguards and our most trusted employed hunters, danger seems to find her. Letting her equip herself with skill sets and the knowledge she would need in becoming stronger then so be it!" Gary Pride, the second oldest brother of Scarlett argued with Alec.

Trying to contradict Alec's fears and doubts regarding Scarlett's safety.

Edward Pride, the eldest amongst the siblings chimed in the conversation of his two brothers.

"Father has already decided. Let's just respect his decision and have faith in our sister that she could succeed in her path of becoming an official hunter. After all, she is a member of the Pride Family!" Edward Pride told his siblings.

As they took a pause and looked at their father, Richard Pride was facing on the huge glass window of his own office. Looking at the dark clouds forming around his mansion.

"It's better to keep your sister surrounded with powerful hunters. The Hunters Academy can provide her the protection she would be needing. Each of you will be tasked in looking for the suspect of harming her. We will be searching for the bastard who tried to kill her. She was clearly the target," Richard Pride's voice was filled with frustration and anger.

The atmosphere within the room became heavy and serious.

After few moments of contemplation, Gary wondered at the most recent meeting that their father attended to.

"Father, how did the meeting with the other headmasters and the council go? What was discussed? Are things getting worse and out of hand?" Gary curiously asked their father.

It also piqued the curiosity of the other sons of Richard Pride.

Richard Pride did not answer the query of his son.

There was silence in the room for a while. Before it was answered.

"Werewolves are continuously wreaking havoc amongst themselves," Richard Pride answered.

"Pft! If they fight amongst themselves, wouldn't it be better for us? To finally have control over our cities and not the monarch?" Alec showed his dislike towards the werewolves.

Before he could make any further remarks about the werewolves, Richard Pride slammed the desk.

"Do not be foolish boy! If they continue to wreak havoc amongst themselves, there will be innocent ones caught in the middle. Many humans will perish from their savagery! Do you understand, BOY?!" Richard Pride emphasized the outcome of continued power struggle amongst the werewolves.

Edward Pride held the wrist of Alec. Stopping him from talking because their father may not like his persistence. And their father has mentioned something significant and true.

Alec felt as if he was the rotten amongst the siblings. He pulled his wrist away from Edward and tried to seat away from their father.

"Though, I must say this father… when are we going to continue to play this charade that hunters would want co-existence with the werewolves? Is this really the fate of humanity, be under the reign of the werewolves?" Edward pointed out something that took everyone's attention, including Alec.

A serious question thrown by the eldest son of Richard Pride.

Something that was seriously argued amongst the council members of the Hunters Association.

"Patience my son! In rulership, there is always an end to each reign! An era always begin after the other, and we shall usher that new era!" Richard Pride shared to his sons.

Thunderous clouds began to overshadow an ominous declaration of the headmaster of Pride Family.

[-At The Courtyard of the Hunters Academy-]

In the middle of the intense battle between the invited guests and the hired criminals, Scarlett pondered on her fate as the new Scarlett Pride.

Will she be able to survive her ill-fated destiny?

How could she change something that was already written to happen?

Could be the changes she has done so far, be enough to overturn her own demise?

Scarlett released one arrow after another.

Criminals fell to her raging arrows. Getting hit directly to their vital parts. Giving them no room for survival.

Others were impressed to her quick and accurate releases.

Even Scarlett could sense her unusual performance. Something she has never experience. It was her first time to shoot an arrow with such an ease.

It was as if things were moving slowly every time she tried to make an aim at her targets.

For her, things were moving slowly every time she breathes deeper and take an aim.

But for others, Scarlett was impressively moving quickly and aiming accurately.

Seth was one of those impressed individuals.

Unlike the other archers and long-ranged newbies, Scarlett was twice faster and perfectly accurate with her shots.

Her flexibility even proved to be remarkable when she evaded all the knives thrown by their enemy.

Due to the number of their enemies, they were outnumbered and eventually the archers were killed or pinned down by the enemies.

Turning things more chaotic.

Seth led a group of men that rescued some of their peers from the hands of the criminals, thirsty to liberate themselves.

If others needed help, some were handling things on their own and independently.

One of them was, Scarlett Pride.

Using the tip of her bow, covered with steel, as her weapon.

Minutes turned hours…

And the chaos around the courtyard ended.

The huge gates of the Hunters Academy automatically closed and fireworks were displayed for everyone to see.

Signifying the end of their struggle for survival.

Everyone looked around and noticed that despite being outnumbered they have survived the slaughter.

All of them were exhausted and tired, panting and covered in blood.

While the criminals were lifeless on the ground.

A group of official hunters made their way to greet the survivors.

"Congratulations, everyone!"

"Welcome to the Hunters Academy!" said by the faculty member with gray hair.

Behind the gray-haired faculty were his juniors and younger looking peers standing with pride and honor.

As they noticed the red velvet-haired daughter of Richard Pride approaching to their direction, no one expected what would happen next.

In her fury, Scarlett Pride punched the most senior member of the faculty of Hunters Academy.

-SMACK!-

"F@%K YOU!" Scarlett was infuriated by the surprise twist of the opening ceremony.

She added, "WELCOME MY ASS!"
