Zander stood by the window, his frame shaky. He still couldn't believe that she was here with them. He couldn't believe that she forgave him.
He could still feel her affectionate kisses on his face. She was still the beautiful angel he cuddled to sleep. The innocent little girl who gave his dark soul peace.
But his heart felt heavy. He recalled how heartlessly he dissected her on the table. He didn't care much for her consent.
The memory was so vivid,that it brought tears to his eyes. Now that he knew she forgave him, he couldn't forgive himself.
He was brought back to the present when a firm hand rested on his shoulder. "Are you okay? You look shaken!"
Zander's gaze rested on Kai's hand. He couldn't pretend that he was fine. Not when every part of him felt broken. Her forgiveness broke him. It should have healed him but it broke him instead.
