"They were humans," whispered Linwood, horrified at piled up bodies that were abandoned just like that at the dead forest.
Melva recognised them as the treasure hunters she had fought before going through the portal towards Willowdale. She had been careful not to injure them too gravely because she did not want to hurt them. And seeing them dead like this made her feel awful.
They were just innocent humans, curious about the treasures and magic of the world. They only wanted the adventure and they got massacred for literally doing nothing. They were unable to harm them, since they did not have the means to even injure supernatural creatures who were obviously far stronger than them and their human weapons would not be able to leave a scratch on them that their bodies could not heal.
It was unfair for the humans. How could their attackers be that heartless? What had these humans done to them besides wanting to go together to Willowdale? What was the purpose of killing them?
