"What is it?" asked Melva curiously as she went down the stairs towards the pitch black darkness, unable to see anything. She felt Vance's hand wrapping around her waist to help her climb down and her feet were suddenly touching the ground.
"You will see," said Vance excitedly, leading Melva to walk with him deep into the darkness.
Melva had no idea where they were heading and she could only trust Vance's hand that was leading her. It was quiet and the only sound she could hear was their footsteps on the ground. There was no one there except for them.
It was after Vance opened a door that there was finally lighting, coming from the other side of the door, blinding to Melva's eyes that had been in the dark for a while. She needed a few minutes to get used to the sudden brightness, while Vance was taking her into the room where he greeted someone.
