Melva was both concerned and flattered at what Vance said to her. He openly mentioned that he was unable to live without her. It was more concerning than flattering, more exactly. He had become too dependent on her presence by his side. What if they were separated again? And this time was longer than before? How could he survive then?
It was kind of frightening to think of that, so she quickly shook off those thoughts. She was wondering what topic she should talk about next when she saw a glimpse of a short creature—too short to be a human—passed by the end of the tunnel and then vanished into thin air. Widening her eyes, Melva could not believe what she was seeing.
"Did you see that?" asked Melva in disbelief, pointing towards the direction where she had seen the short creature earlier.
"See what? I did not see anything." Vance was narrowing his eyes, looking at where her hand was pointing towards.
