"Why do you fight?"
Killer looked up from the chemistry book in his hands and into his commander's eye.
"Whatcha mean Boris?" He flung the textbook at the wall and crossed his legs in what he considered an "intellectual manner" despite how many times Triple told him he looked stupid.
"If and when we meet the Fort Lauderdale Warriors, and we somehow manage to defeat your sister's gang...what are you doing next? Why do you even want to bring her back?" Boris questioned Killer from where he was sitting.
They were currently in the Taitanzu Heads personal quarters and everyone was busy training or doing something else to prepare for their next Brawlhalla match.
Killer put his hand under his chin ad hummed; the thought of what he'll do when he reunited with his sister never actually crossed his mind. He just assumed it'll be some "and they lived happily ever after" type of ending.
"In all honesty commander...I don't know..." The Branch Head scratched his chin with a faraway look in his eyes.
Did he even have a reason for fighting? What did he plan to do with Amber anyway? He was certain the Knotts weren't going to let her live with them, not after all the carnage she caused. Were they going to be homeless? Did he even bother to think about if she'll be willing to go with him? Will she even recognize him?
Boris simply smirked, a barely noticeable one and lit his pipe. Yes he smoked from time to time but if he as going to smoke he was going to smoke with the utmost class.
"It's alright. You'll figure it out eventually...I haven't figured out what exactly I'm fighting for either..." He took a long drag from the pipe and puffed.
"I've just been wondering if my reason for bringing us into this tournament won't be the death of us all... it'll be a damn shame if that Reaper individual ended up bringing Taitanzu to it's doom..."
"Hm? What makes you say that?"
Boris set his pipe down and ran a hand through his white hair.
"It's a trap...and like a farmer sowing seeds in a field...he plans on reaping us all...for better or for worse"
*************Flashback*************
"Hey...wanna form a gang?"
A younger Boris with black hair and glasses almost fell off his chair and unto the floor, surprised by the sudden question from Last Resort.
It earned him a strange stare from the rest of the people in the diner they were seated in, but the would-be gang commander wasn't bothered about that.
"Didn't you just get out of prison about two weeks ago?" Boris asked the green haired powerhouse as he stood upright.
"Sue me for being bored if you want, but you know full and damn well that this place is uneventful as hell" the Last Resort took a sip of his dark coffee and belched shamelessly.
"Plus the word on the street is that some private group are planning on making gang fights legal, sounds hella crazy but I done seen it up on the news and it's gots ta be true. We can get ourselves some real heavy reps my man! Ain't you tired of Deixis pushing people around in Tallahassee? They're not even as cool or good as they were 2 years ago..." LR took another sip of his coffee and swirled the cup around, giggling like a child at the sight of the liquid spinning like a mini whirlpool.
"Legalizing gang activity? Count on the state of Florida to pull some random bullshit outta it's ass regardless of how dangerous it is. And I don't see why you complain about Deixis when I know that you know you are strong enough to take them down singlehandedly" Boris argued, the idea of creating a gang not sounding appealing to him in the slightest.
"Just attacking all of them doesn't sound fun. Plus something like this is bound to get us some cash on the side. I see no negative sides to this"
"Bruh. There are reasons why gang activity is banned in other states... high risk of death is one of them! This isn't some anime in which you can just jump around time by giving someone a hand shake and change history..."
"Don't be such a pessimist my friend. I'm sure we'll figure this out"
"Who told you I've agreed to this? Where are we even going to find members? It's not like we're so popular..." Boris asked, exasperated.
Before Last Resort could answer, a glass cup flew between him and Boris and hitting the wall, shattering into a million pieces.
A white haired teen was holding a blonde by the neck, both looking ready to kill themselves.
"Come on Casey, let that boy go" Triple sighed before drinking from bottle of wine in front of him, his calmness a complete contrast to the scene playing out in front of him.
"How can you be so calm about this!? Your friend is going to kill my cousin and you're just drinking wiiiiine?!" Crystal panicked while pulling on Triple's jacket sleeve.
"Those four look like a perfect pick to join the gang" LR smiled while looking at Boris who just rubbing his forehead in frustration.
"Fine. If they refuse you owe me ten dollars"
************************************
Boris chuckled as he looked at the year old ten dollar bill in his hand.
Despite the fact that the four of them agreed to join the budding gang, LR still gave him the money and the Taitanzu Commander vowed to keep it as long as he could. A way to remember the beginning of Taitanzu.
He remembered the events of that evening play out like a film; Casey and Noah wrecking the entire diner because of a fight over a spoon, Last Resort having to knock them out cold, the epic police chase that followed when they refused to pay for damages.
Good times.
Boris thumbed the bill in his palm and smiled.
Maybe be did have something to fight for after all.
