Chapter 50 - Alpha David and the Goddess

At first, Alpha David was upset. After Sinead spoke to him and Luke in the living room about her home planet and The Great Goddess of All, his anger got the better of him.

It angered him that Sinead could speak so casually about a topic he felt so strongly about. In his mind, there was no way The Moon Goddess and The Great Goddess could be the same. Or, even worse, that The Moon Goddess was merely an aspect of The Great Goddess.

Such a thing would never have occurred to him if Sinead had never proposed it.

He'd worried about the reaction and change that such an idea would bring to his pack. How could a core part of their religion be wrong? His pack looked up to him as their leader. How could he ever fathom standing before them and telling them that he was wrong about something as important as this?!

David didn't understand how Sinead could say something like that and say also that nothing would change in the light of that information.

On that day, David swore Luke to secrecy. Luke was not to say a word to anyone.

But in the days that followed, he still continued to spend time with his mate and try and be nicer to her, despite the fact that their previous argument had no clear conclusion; nor had either one apologized to the other. He figured that they wouldn't agree on everything.

A few days after that, when he had a calmer and cooler head on his shoulders, he realized that although she'd blind-sided him with her statements and revelations; theoretically, she could be right.

But he, personally, refused to believe it. So, he deliberately avoided the topic.

As the days went by, David's respect for Sinead grew. For someone so very religious, she talked very little about religion. In fact, since their disagreement, she hadn't said so much as a word about The Great Goddess. This softened his attitude towards her, without his knowing.

Once he realized Sinead wasn't going to preach to him or push her religion on him, he relaxed even more around her.

Maybe, that was part of the reason he found it easier to accept that they had different religious views.

That night, David lay down to sleep happy with the fact that Sinead would soon start work at his club.

He'd owned the Lunar Eclipse for the past eight years. He was pleased with himself for getting Sinead a job there and happy she was happy with having a job again.

He was in the midst of a dream of running through a lush, green forest, when a woman appeared.

David couldn't say if she'd appeared suddenly, or if she'd been there the entire time and he'd only just noticed her.

'Hello, my child.', she greeted him through mind-link, with one hand raised in a wave. 'At last, we finally meet.'

The woman was beautiful, with an ethereal kind of beauty. She had flowing, perfect hair, that hung loosely, and a golden crown on her head. The crown radiated out around her head like the rays from the Sun, and a large golden necklace was about her neck.

The necklace had golden box-link chain that supported the weight of a large charm. The charm was a golden crescent moon, like the last slice of moon visible before an eclipse. It was the size of a soft ball. The charm hung perfectly in place over the breast of her flowy, long dress.

The dress moved, like her hair, gently blowing in an unfelt wind that seemed to effect only her.

The rippling movement of her dress gave him the feeling that the folds of cloth from it must reach out behind her in a train so long, it could reach the end of the universe.

From her appearance, Alpha David felt sure that this was The Moon Goddess in his dream.

Stunned and speechless, he bowed deeply to her.

He heard her giggle. It was a sound like the flapping of butterflies' wings, wind chimes and fluttering leaves all at once.

'So formal and respectful. I appreciate that.'

Her words were not what Alpha David expected. He raised himself a little and snuck a glance at her.

Her smile showed all over her face. Even her eyes smiled.

'Come.', she held out a hand to him. 'Surely you know who I am?'

He straightened fully and walked forward to take her hand. But, unsure of what to do with it, he hesitated a moment before he kissed it gently and then let it go.

'You must be The Goddess of the Moon.'

She sighed and flapped her hand at him.

'Never mind you being a flirt!'

She gave him a mock stern look, and with her arms crossed over her chest said, 'Yes. That is one of the titles I answer to.'

She gave him a long, expressionless look.

'Now come!', again she reached out a hand. 'Walk with me.'

It suddenly dawned on him that that is what she'd intended for him to do all along!

His cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

The Goddess strode forward and tucked his arm in hers. He didn't resist as she easily pulled him along with her. He forced his legs to move quickly in order to keep up with her small, quick strides. He didn't know how she could move so fast and yet elegantly glide.

She stopped at a recently fallen log.

'Sit with me.'

They sat with her on the left and him on the right.

'I want to tell you a few things. They may not all appear to be related, but they are. And they are important.'

She paused with a serious look on her face, and David waited patiently for her to continue in silence.

'As you say, I am The Moon Goddess. The moon is under my control; it belongs to me. But so does the sun, and the earth. So, I am also the Goddess of the Sun and the Goddess of the Earth.'

She gently placed a hand under his chin, so he looked directly into her eyes.

'Do you understand what I am saying?'

'…That you are the Goddess of everything?'

'That I am The Great Goddess of All.'

'So, the whole time, Sinead was…'

'It doesn't matter who is right. That is not the point.'

She let go of his chin.

'The point is I have some truths to tell you. I trust you with them because you are strong enough to know them.'

'First of all, I need to tell you about the realm that Sinead comes from. She's from the Domhan Saol Gaol.'

Time passed quickly as The Great Goddess spoke to him. When he finally awoke, it was past the time he'd meant to awaken.
