Chereads / Alpha David and the High Priestess Sinead / Chapter 32 - My sister, Sara

Chapter 32 - My sister, Sara

I sat at a two-seater wooden kitchen table in the corner of the kitchen and observed as David made some scrambled eggs and toast.

He had offered to make a bunch of other things as well, but I told him no. I didn't want to be the cause of a lot of trouble.

"So, David, you are a man who can turn into a wolf." I stated. "Can you turn into other things as well?"

He laughed and looked at me. "I am a werewolf, Sinead." I smiled back when I saw the goofy canine- like, lopsided grin on his face.

"Werewolves don't often have the habit of changing into sheep or rabbits."

"That may be true." I said as I watched him put the food on two plates. "But before today, I heard stories about werewolves. I never knew that they actually existed."

He put a plate in front of me, with cutlery and took up the other chair. We had both eaten a few mouthfuls when I asked "You mentioned your sister, but I can't find any other presence in this house. The only active energy is you and I."

"Yes." David answered. "She spent last night either at our parents' or at her boyfriends', I am not sure which. The matter was still being hotly contested when I walked away from the three of them."

"I see." was all I felt comfortable saying. I wondered if I had been born on Earth, with an average upbringing, if I would have better known what to say.

We ate in silence, until David looked at me for a long moment. "Sinead?" He asked.

"Yes?"

"I am wondering what kind of young lady befriends foxes, takes part in moonlight rituals, meditates for hours, can tell exactly how many peoples' energies are in a house, can freeze people in place and control lighting and sound equipment without touching it."

He paused and I felt a blush on my cheeks. "You wouldn't happen to be some extremely talented white witch, now, would you?"

I took a deep breath. "I...I am not allowed to tell you a lot." I began, "But I can tell you my full name and title: Sinead Ninebark, sorceress of the North Forest Clan, High Priestess to the Great Goddess of All. I am not from this realm, and I am not allowed to say where I am from."

David looked shocked. I was worried.

"David." I said. He shook his head and looked at me. I pointed. "A presence at the door." I said quietly.

His expression was quizzical for a moment, and then we heard a knock at the back door. He got up and crossed the kitchen to answer the door. He only let the door swing inward a bit before he halted it.

"Hey." I heard a young female voice say. "I got the Arnica you needed!"

"How did you.." began David.

"Elizabeth drove me all over the place this morning. When I explained what was going on, she said she would be happy to help in a heartbeat. I am sorry it took so long. We had a hard time locating it; we had to go to this natural health food store. And the place didn't have single packs, they only had them in this three-pack. It was so expensive! You owe me $25.99."

"Ok." David said. "Just give me that and go on."

"What? Can't I come in? I want to say hi."

"No." He said firmly. "I don't know that she feels well enough to meet anyone right now."

I got up from my seat and walked toward him. "David?" I asked him. "Who's at the door?"

He sighed. "It's my sister, Sara."

'Oh, David! For heaven's sake, just let her in.' I thought, my eyes met his as I pressed my consciousness towards his. I was curious to see if he was capable of hearing me. I had heard stories of werewolves having such abilities.

My curiosity was satisfied when he looked at me confusedly and inquired "Did you just…?"

I smiled at him and said "The fact that you just asked means you did hear me. And no, I didn't say a word aloud."

"Okay." He said in a thoughtful tone, as he turned back to the door and his sister. "She says I should let you in." he informed her.

I heard a "Yay." from Sara as she hurried past her brother to get in the door.

"Hello. It's nice to meet you properly. My name is Sara Sakamoto." She said with a warm smile.

"Hi, Sara." I said. "It's nice to meet you too."

She looked to be about seventeen and was a petite, slender young woman with beautiful long, black hair.

"I'm sorry for the state of dishevelment I'm in." I said placing my left hand on the collar of the oversized t-shirt. "I must look awful, not at all like the nice outfit you are wearing today."

"Oh, thanks." She said. "You don't look awful."

I smiled at her. "Your brother tells me that you offered me some of your clothes. That was very kind of you."

She didn't say anything, only blushed a bit. "Oh!" she exclaimed all of a sudden. "I have this for you." She offered me the package of three Arnica vials, which she had held the entire time.

"Thank you." I said taking the package from her hand. I opened it, broke the seal on one of the vials, measured out several circular spheres into the lid and with a quick flick of my wrist flicked them into my mouth where I let them melt under my tongue.

"Wait." Sara cautioned, "How many was that? You are only supposed to take…"

"It's ok." I interrupted her. "I can handle double the dose recommended for humans. It's like that for most medicines, herbal or artificially manufactured."

Sara didn't say anything, just looked very surprised.

Then, the three of us turned our heads to the door as we heard a knock. As David moved towards the door, I turned back to Sara.

"Sara, do you know your way around this house well?" I inquired.

"Yep." She replied. "But why are you asking?"

"Well, I hoped you would know your way to a bathroom." I said. "Based on the way today is going, I better take my chance to go now, before any more visitors arrive." I chuckled, joking with her.

I followed Sara to the downstairs bathroom, leaving David behind with whomever was at the door.
