"UNIQUE STARTER PACKAGE!!!!" it was not just Nia or Jayna , but whole class was shocked. The starter packages were sold when registering for the JIN HO game. There was only one account per person, and only one person could handle the gaming console. console would verify the player through multiple means including brain wave scan.
So each person would get a basic starter package when registered. the package would include clothes(top and bottom) and shoes with minimum or no attribute. the default weapon would have minimum attack value. The player would also get a red pot(health potion), a blue pot(mana potion) , both of low grade and a piece of bread and a jug of water(to quench thirst and negate the hunger).
SIA works, the gaming company behind JIN HO also gave few copper coins to each player on registering with basic free package. but they turned money hungry beasts whenever there is money making business opportunity. In order to pull pay-to-win gamers and Guild owners, they had released option for buying better starter package with credits. This was a one time opportunity. costlier the package, better the resources. This has to sustain them till marketplace inside the game is officially opened to allow trading of items with real cash/credits instead of game coins.
But in order to satisfy the poor general public, the gaming company allowed a lottery system while getting the starter package. if you win, you may get UNIQUE STARTER PACKAGE. no one knows whats inside it. it may contain OP weapon, OP skill, OP resources or it may contain just UNCOMMON weapon/skill/resource. the player may sell the items inside and rake in pile of credits or use it themselves to may their name.
However, the catch was - this was lottery, spin in the wheel type, with a chance of winning around 1%. Of course, you could pay in credits to increased that chance all the way up to 10%. but the wheel would spin only once. And if you are using lottery, you cannot buy better quality starter package . the official statement was this would help common people. if given choice, no one would PAY to have CHANCE of getting better deal.
After all, people like Maaya are rare. and situations similar to this one are even rarer. so when the class of 6AT heard that one of their classmates got a UNIQUE STARTER PACKAGE, all of them were shocked. A moment of pin drop silence. Then, all of them rushed to Nia's side pre-booking the resources - ready to pay in cash or kind.
Nia was a good girl. She did not scoff at others. she did not sell the items before hand and certainly she did not auction them off, knowing very well that not all of her classmates were rich, uber rich, rich enough to throw huge sums of money into a game.(Oh, honey!!! change this thinking. Or else you can't make huge amounts of money inside the game).
Nia finally escaped from evil clutches of her classmates and ran off to another side of campus. Stop thinking bad things, people. our MC, Nia is a good girl, Ms Goody shoes as the saying goes. Maaya can attest it. She know Nia is literally working round the clock to learn as much as possible with SVU(Sahara Valley University). Though she was still in second year of college, she had written graduation exams in two subjects already. Her aim was to graduate with maximum number of subjects, if possible, finish few post graduate degrees too.
Looking at Nia's figure, and face, one might think she works as model(yes, she's that beautiful). Looking at her marks, score sheet, one might think is teacher's pet(too true!!). Looking at her class schedule, one might think she is study maniac(i dare you to complete the 3year syllabus in 6 months or 1 year. Only Nia, the Goddess can do it). Looking at her bewitching smile, one might start smiling too and believe the life is beautiful( care to share that world with our MC? she desperately needs a beautiful and stress free life).
By the time, Maaya could meet Nia, it was evening. the campus was slowly emptying. students were going out to enjoy the atmosphere. Maaya would have left long before(you think dewy skin, natural looking face comes without effort?) but the gaming console in her car reminded her that her duty was yet to be completed.
Nia was camping in Osteology department. thanks to all sorts of bones, a spooky atmosphere would form when it turned dark outside. no amount of lights would dispel the spooky atmosphere. you either got used to it or you get out of that place.
"So, you will be studying bones this semester?" (Maaya)
"yes. along with few more. their departments are nearby." (Nia)
"which ones? do they have small courses in them?" (Maaya).
Yes, Maaya is not just rich and beautiful girl. She has brains and attitude in spades. Simple people will see Nia as simple, cute, beautiful, brilliant girl. Only those with depth can percieve the depth in Nia.
"Sure. i'm taking Archeology, Anthropology, Ancient languages....er. just let me know what is your interest. i'll see if there is any short term courses in them." (Nia )
