Azur followed behind Shelby towards the dinning room. Violet smiled and Shelby smiled back, a little awkwardly. Shelby's mom, Fae, stood next to the table in her apron stirring the salad that was centered on the table.
Fae heard footsteps behind her and turned to see Shelby and Azur entering the room.
"Oh, Hi I wasn't expecting for Shelby to bring anyone for dinner" Fae said "Come sit I prepare enough for all of us, so eat as much as you want"
"Mom this is my friend from school Azur Hampton" Shelby says and Azur holding out his hand
"It's nice to meet you ma'am" Azur smiles at Shelby's mom.
"It's nice to meet you to. You don't have to call me ma'am. Just call me Fae" She smiled at her daughter's first friend she brought home "Let's sit"
Azur and Shelby sit right next to each other as Violet sat across from her. Her mom sat at the edge of the table close to Shelby.
"So, how did you two meets?" Fae asked her daughter
"I was paired up with him to help him catch up since he arrived in the school a little later than everyone else" Shelby explained
"We'll I hoped Shelby explained everything to you well" Fae said
"She did. She actually helped me to pass the first test with flying colors" Azur answered with a smile on his face and turned to look at Shelby.
"Shelby is really smart" Violet said with a smile on her face and looking between her older sister and her new friend.
"I agree" Azur says and Fae smiles. Shelby quietly looked down as her face turned burned with a little blush.
"I think she's blushing" Violet leaned over and whispered into her mother, Fae, ear.
"Shelby's blushing!?" Fae said and looked towards her daughter. Shelby looked toward what was said. Azur looked at Shelby after hearing what Fae said to make sure.
"So, mom" Shelby said through the awkwardness catching her mom's attention. Fae turned towards Shelby as she spoke "I had Azur come over because we had or specifically, I had a question"
"sure" Fae said looking at her daughter
"So, I was wondering if I could go with Azur somewhere during my school's two weeks off" Shelby asked her mom looking down at her food. Fae looked at her daughter shocked from what she was saying.
It was the first time for Fae to hear Shelby asking about going out with a friend for a few days. Even more so with a person of the opposite gender.
Violet looked at her sister in shocked, like her mom.
"Um sure I have no problem with it" Fae said to her daughter, Shelby, who had a huge smile after she got the answer she wanted.
"Thank you, Mom!!" Shelby said after she put her fork down since she finished her food.
Azur put his fork down as well
"When do you two plan to go?" Fae asked Azur
"The day after Spring break starts" Azur answered
"Where to?"
"The town over" Shelby answered "It's not to far off from where the mall is"
"Alright but make sure you are back the day before you have to go back to school" Shelby's mom says
"I'll make sure we're back in time" Azur says to Fae.
"I'm going to go pack for next week" Shelby says standing up from where she was sitting
"Alrighty, you can go up as well Azur when your done" Fae said looking at Azur who began to stand up as well like Shelby and started to follow her up the stairs.
"Thank you for dinner" Azur says right before he disappears upstairs.
Shelby closed the door behind Azur as he stepped through the doorway.
"I can't believe my mom said yes" Shelby said with her back against her door with a huge smile on her face.
"So, in two weeks we will go" Azur says "the day after school is out"
"I'm so excited" Shelby says, Azur chuckles at her reaction
"Alright, I better get home" Azur says "I have some homework to do still before tomorrow"
"I can help you" Shelby suggest "I am suppose to be your tutor"
"Alright let's do some homework then" Azur takes his bag off and places it right next to Shelby's table to run through the stuff in his bag.
"you got it?" Shelby sat right beside Azur.
"Yep" he says and pulled it out and looks right at Shelby. His eyes dilated as he stared into her eyes just as she was. She looked towards his lip and back up to his eyes. Shelby's eyes were fully dilated looking at his lips. Her brain just kept running through the idea of kissing his lips. They were both very close to each other.
Azur cleared his throat and slowly placed his paper on the table. Shelby turned away from looking at Azur in the eyes. Her face was burning red. She actually wanted to kiss him but she wasn't sure if he wanted to kiss her. They hadn't known each other that well. They've only known each other for a few weeks.
"Okay so" Shelby explains the different ways to get the answer that the teacher wants.
After an hour later, Azur stands up with his homework in his backpack which is on his back.
"thank you shelby" He says as Shelby walks with him downstairs to walk him out
They stood at the door as they both said bye.
"I'll see you at school" He says to Shelby and smiles.
"Bye" Shelby says quietly and shuts the door when she couldn't see his car anymore. She had a huge smile as she quickly made her way to her room just so she couldn't hear anything about anything from her mom nor sister.
Shelby laid on her bed just thinking about Azur. She could not get over the fact that she almost kissed him. He almost kissed her. They were so close. She could still remember feeling his breath on her lip, which made her lips tingle. She could remember how even more soft his lips looked. Biting her lip just wanting him to move even more closer to her. just wanting his lips to touch her own. She shook her head and laid down on her bed looking up at the ceiling fan.
