Chapter 17
The rain did not stop hitting the ground as the cold breeze seeped through my drenched clothes. I thought we were already something, I thought we were already a step forward but it was all in my imagination.
The soaked cloth hugged me like a second skin as I turned the knobs of the door with my white trembling hands, clattering teeth as my lips shook like leaves.
I was pointing out where there were loopholes in Sophia's story, Khaleeds and Abdullah's own when I received a call. I dropped my pen, removed my reading glasses, and picked it up only to hear an unsteady breathing sound… I waited for the receiver to talk but when nothing was spoken, I hung up, annoyingly.
I'd been feeling restless since I left Sophia's place and when I'd not received a reply from Yusuf, I was contemplating whether to call him when my phone rang again.
