As soon as she got out of the bus, she looked around as she knew that at this time, he would always be in the university, taking classes. So she didn't think much about it and walked toward his class as She already knew about his schedule very well.
As she stood there outside the door of the class, she squinted her eyes at the entire class, but no matter how many times she looked, she couldn't find him in his class.
A frown crossed her forehead at that. How come her boyfriend wasn't here today? Wasn't his English class today? She took out her phone to check up on his schedule, and she saw English written there on today's date.
Her frown deepened at that.
"He hasn't come to University yet?" Hazel asked herself.
Her lips pursed as she continued to think of where he could go? Just as she was about to continue thinking about it, her phone rang, pulling her out of her thoughts. She picked it up without thinking.
It was her step sister, Cathy.
A harsh voice echoed in her ears. It was sharp and shot into her ears like a string, she got startled and pulled her phone away from her ear. After a second, she pushed her phone back to her ear and heard her sister yelling, "Miss Hazel, where did you just go without making me breakfast as instructed by mom?"
Instructed by mom? Just when did Mom instruct her to make breakfast? Just then she remembered the note kept beside the table that she saw but didn't read and ignored it unintentionally.
Her lips pursed as she looked at the classroom once again and sighed. "I didn't see the note."
The girl on the phone scoffed and said in a harsh voice, "You little piece of shit! You know very well that it's going to be my first art class today! Why are you so clueless? I know you only want to create trouble for me! Damn you. You are just worthless garbage! Why were you even born?! It would have been fine if you had died in your mother's womb itself! It wouldn't become dirty with all your garbage! Now that I think about it, you're so worthless that you don't deserve anything. Then how come you got such a good boyfriend? You should just go and die! Save your boyfriend from falling into the pit named Hazel!"
After muttering a bunch of curses, the girl hung up the call.
Hazel put the phone in her bag as she tried her best to keep tears from falling off her cheeks. She restrained the tears so hard, her eyes turned red.
Her step sister was always like that. She would always scold her for no reason. And always look for an opportunity to talk ill about her.
She wished her father was with her today. So, she could live happily with him, with nothing less but happiness. But he passed away long ago.
Hazel took a deep breath and decided to forget about Cathy. And everything that hurts her.
For now, she needed to be happy with a smile on her lips for her boyfriend, who is her only importance now. It's his birthday! She can't destroy it just because her sister decided to speak harsh words. It's not a new or a big thing, but her boyfriend was.
Hazel stood there for a few more minutes before she picked up her phone again. She would just dial her boyfriend's number if she couldn't find him anymore in the University. Her frown couldn't help but deepen every passing second.
Just where did he go?
She was about to walk away to Cafetaria in search of her boyfriend, but just then a hand wrapped around her wrist and pulled her close to a nice built chest.
"Huh?" Hazel exclaimed as she looked up at the person who pulled her towards him and as soon as she looked at him, a bright smile crossed her face.
"Austin!" Hazel called with a smile as her heart got filled with happiness.
"Babygirl." Austin said as he kissed her forehead.
"Happy Birthday." Hazel said with a bright smile as she wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly.
"Thank you, my love." Austin replied as he smiled brightly and hugged her back.
"Where were you? You aren't even answering my call. I was just about to go search for you in the cafeteria. You even missed your class today?" Hazel asked as she broke the hug, to focus on her boyfriend.
"Umm... Yes. I was on a call with mom. So, I wasn't able to Come to class!" Austin answered as he chuckled, she wasn't sure whether the chuckle was genuine.
"Ohh... Did she wish for you?" Hazel asked nervously.
"Yes." Austin answered with a plain smile.
"That's great!" Hazel said as she knew it wasn't a good idea to continue the topic.
"Let's go have something. I know, you haven't had your Breakfast yet! Come. Let's go!" Austin said as he pecked her soft lips.
"You know me so well..." Hazel replied with a beam as she felt grateful inside.
"Well... Yes. I know, you won't even cook something for yourself and eat it because you are just super scared of your parents. Anyways... No talking about them. Let's go and fill your tummy first. Shall we?" Austin asked and Hazel nodded her head as she smiled, a plain one.
They both walked away from there to the cafeteria hand in hand, as her plain smile got replaced with a real beautiful curve.
