Chapter 35 - -Chapter 35- Sayas Confrontation

I was slammed against the wall and her strength lifted me up off the ground. She lifted me up like I was some kind of child compared to her.

Saya looked me directly in the eyes and began to say, "I have determined you as an ally, be thankful."

"What?" I am confused.

"I will explain everything to you, but it may come all really fast and suddenly, you lesser may not even understand what I am talking about but I will make sure you do in time." She says.

She had called me a 'lesser' which confused me greatly. "What do you mean lesser?" I ask.

"Do you believe in deities?" she asks. I think back to my time in the orphanage in my past life. One of the younger girls in the orphanage had asked me, "Grey, do you believe in god?" I had never properly believed in higher beings such as that.

"While we aren't exactly deities, we are the closest that exists in this world to one. We are called asuras. Our job is to look over and observe the lessers, you all on this continent and the other continent Alacrya."

"What are you talking about? Why are you saying this?" I ask.

"What I'm saying is that I am an asura sent here because of a disturbance among the lessers." She answers.

"What do you mean? Disturbance?" When I ask, she pulls down the sleeve to my right arm to reveal the rune that was left there by the ancient mages.

"This is evidence of such disturbance," she states. "You messed with something and somehow gained knowledge that even the Asuras don't know."

"Ok, so I did something I shouldn't have, what now? Will I be killed?" I ask.

"No, you have been labeled as an ally by me. It is good that you actually did this, it will come as a great help in the upcoming war."

"War? Do you mean the other continent plans to start a war with us?" I ask.

"Yes, I will go over things as simply as I can, I will be able to answer your questions in further detail later but for now this will be it." She says before continuing. "There are two other continents besides this one, Alacrya, and Epheotus the home of the asuras."

'Two other continents?'

"In the continent of Epheotus, there exists Eight races of Asura, each with clans representing each. These clans make up the eight great clans. The asura are meant to watch over the lessers and keep the peace. But one of the clans disagreed with this, their leader believed that the asura were meant to rule over the lessers as their gods."

"Ok, I think I get it so far," I responded.

"Good, as for what they did after that the leader had been going to Alacrya and experimenting on the lessers there to advance his clan's powers. He has now taken control over Alacrya and is now building an army to take over this continent so he can take over Epheotus."

"Ok, what's stopping the asuras from just teaming up and taking down that clan?" I ask.

"There is a treaty, we asura can no longer fight each other like that, it could very well cause the destruction of the entire world," Saya responds.

"So everything is carried out through us 'lessers'?" I ask.

"You're a strange one calling yourself a lesser but yes, that is essentially how it works." She answers.

After everything she had told me she called me the weird one...

"The clan in question is the Vritra clan, led by Agrona Vritra. They are known for their Decay Mana-Arts, or what you lessers call, 'Magic.' Along with experimenting and making strong mages they likely bred with the lessers to create half breeds."

"I am from the main clan of the Phoenixes. The Asclepius clan is the one I am from, the strongest clan of the Phoenixes." She answers, "I was entrusted this job of finding you."

Both I and Saya hear people approaching the alleyway. This will be bad if they see us like this, "Put me down-"

Before I am able to finish my sentence she kisses me and turns us both away so when the people see us down the alleyway they don't recognize either of us and are too embarrassed to question us so they just keep moving.

I wanted to try and stop her but my arms were still pinned against the wall by her ridiculous strength. She finally releases me from the kiss and speaks again, "It seems I won't be able to explain everything now. But since I am the one responsible for you as of now."

She makes it sound like I'm some dog without a leash. She pushes back my sleeve on my left arm and presses mana into my arm. "Since I am an asura I am able to do this."

I feel the point she presses down on burn before it is revealed a small branding mark is placed on my arm. "This is a contract of command, basically meaning we are not equals. I rule over you in this bond relationship."

I suddenly hear her speak inside my mind. 'With this, we will be able to communicate mentally with each other

I am shocked by all this but before I can ask anything else she runs off.

I walk to my next class still trying to process everything in my head. I couldn't stop thinking about how she said there would be a war. If the other continent is led by Asuras then what chance could we really have?

I arrive at my next class where I am met by both Curtis and Claire, ¨I didn't know you took this class, Arthur.¨ Curtis says.

¨The director let me take upperclassmen classes on top of my current ones.¨ I responded.

We all talk for a while as the rest of the class arrives. I see a few people I recognize arrive at the outdoor class. I froze when I saw Saya arrive at this class. She must have noticed that I stopped moving when she arrived because she smirked when she looked at me.

I must have worried Curtis and Claire when they saw me suddenly stop. ¨Hey Arthur you alright?¨ Claire asks.

I snap out of it and respond, ¨Huh- yeah I'm fine. What's going on?¨

¨We were just talking about our next DC officer meeting. What's gotten into you for you to just pause like that?¨ Curtis says.

¨Nothing, it's fine.¨ I return my attention to what's going on around me and see the last few people arrive. One of them surprised me because they were just in their first year as well. Tessia Crestless. 'How did they get into this class?'

'They requested to take this class, as Student Council President I had the right to accept their request,' Saya tells me through our mental connection. It had startled me due to not being used to it.

'Do you know the reason why they wanted to take this class?' I ask.

'They said personal interest, It's likely they are after you.' She answers.

'What makes you say that?'

'Every class they signed up for matched your schedule.' she states.

'What? Why would they do that?' I ask.

'Let's just hope they are simply into you,' She sighs.

I sigh as well and return to waiting for class to start. Not long later we all sense a mana presence fly down from above. We all can see a woman riding on the back of a large flare hawk. She flies down with the help of the flare hawk and lands on the ground.

"Hello class, my name is Professor Glory and I am in charge of all of you for this class. It is a pleasure to meet all of you for the first time," she announces with an upbeat attitude.

Nearly the entire class was amazed at the giant flare hawk in front of them, I wasn't all too amazed since I had seen quite a few of them before. Instead of checking out the mana beast, I decided to try and check the professor's mana core stage.

When I attempted I was not only unable to see her mana core but also her elemental affinities. That likely meant she was using a seal of some kind to hide her capabilities. She must have caught me because when I attempted she had turned her head in my direction. "Ah, if it isn't my newest colleague, Arthur Bladeheart."

Murmurs around the crowd questioned what Professor Glory just had called me. "Yes, like the rumors say, Arthur is now officially a Professor at Xyrus Academy."

"Bullshit," one student says.

"If he is a Professor then I'm the king of Dicathen!" another yells in disbelief.

"It seems you all have a different opinion on your classmate being a teacher here. Maybe we can do something to calm these differences in opinions. Perhaps a mock battle."

The bloodlust practically oozes out of all my classmates, they really wanted to take me down and prove themselves.

I sigh after realizing what the teacher was planning. Why do the energetic ones have to be such a pain...
