Chereads / The Mother Demoness / Chapter 2 - The Proclamation

Chapter 2 - The Proclamation

Loralai flickers her eyes open as she silently mulls over what just happened moments ago.

In the Demon World, in the leader's palace, Loralai was told the once in a lifetime Devil Cloud was preparing to strike lightning.

The Devil Cloud was a cloud made of up of only yin energy. It has laid in the sky peacefully for 50,000 years and now was preparing to strike lighting.

According to the ancestors, if you absorbed the pure yin from the lightning, you could have the chance to ascend to the legendary cultivation level beyond the Demon Realm.

Loralai hurriedly rushed out to the cliff where the yin was the strongest and where the thunder would hit. The rain felt like hail on her skin yet she stood completely still with determination in her eyes.

And like hell was ascending, the thunder fell on her heavily.

"Ugh!" She groaned as her giant black wings spread open and covered her body to protect it to some extent.

'Just two more!' She thought as she looked up with a grim expression. That thunder bolt that just hit her took half of her cultivation to protect herself against.

The clouds once again gathered and struck on her body making it look battered and weak , nothing like her original self. However, she could briefly feel her soul ascending; battling with the heavens. Her soul was comprehending the secret to life to get ready to ascend into the Legendary Realm. It was the Yin cloud that helped her tremendously by providing enough energy.

"Finally!" Her sharp red eyes glared at the Yin cloud with renew vigor as she felt herself close to a breakthrough. "Come on!" She shouted. Her wings, that was a far cry from their original appearance, covered her body like a shield while she activated her defense tools.

The final thunderstrike struck.

Loralai body was beaten down and covered in her dark golden blood. She kneeled and she yelled. She could fell her body shaking off their mortal constraints.

Just as she was about to summon her soul, that was still ingrained in learning the way of life, she felt a sharp blade enter her demon heart.

She looked down at the familiar blade and chuckled.

"...You children finally found it."

Loralai had 3 younger siblings. She did not believe in fighting with those who have the same blood as yourself. That weakness has come back to stab her in the back.

Quite literally.

Typically, demons did not have their hearts' located in the chest area. They were hidden so that not even the parents of the children would know where it was unless it was told voluntarily. Loralai never once in her life told anyone where her heart was.

However, there are old rare forbidden manuals that could locate someone's heart without their knowing consent. Obviously this was well thought out.

Loralai's heart was in an ironic place though. It was indeed on the left side of her chest.

She glanced up finding her twin brother holding the sword handle. She wasn't surprised since he'd naturally had some animosity, coming out seconds later than her making her the heir however, she was disappointed.

"The soul of a half-legendary realm will be enough to break through."

Loralai could only smile at her clueless brother. This was the first time in a long time someone has tried to ascend to that legendary realm, so he could not help his idiocy.

She glanced at her younger sisters, Arachne and Moira who never once thought to hide their envy and jealousy towards their elder sister. Years of being compared to their sister by others has made their hearts cold so even as she bled out, they still held unfiltered hatred in their eyes.

Finally, their peacock of a sister would die and years of cultivation would go to them. The thought made them smile with glee.

Loralai sighed as she felt her soul losing the battle it was fighting without the support of the yin cloud. Slowly her eyes turned cold and emotionless as she spoke in monotone.

"You children will not have a peaceful death." With that proclamation Loralai started chanting the words from an old manual she found centuries ago. Her inner self, she built with her whole life, started to dim as it left her body and took over her soul. Her soul then was taken away as Loralai watched on with a lifeless gaze.

"No! What is she doing?!" Her twin brother was the first to feel her cultivation drop all the way until she was no different from a human. "Loralai you selfish bitch!"

However, the body of Loralai was already nothing more than a shell.

That was the end of Loralai, the Empress of Demons.
