Pearl's POV
"Hey, you awake?" I heard Someone say but their voice sounded so far away. I felt a slight shake of my shoulders as if someone was trying to shake me awake.
"Why is this person trying to force me out of my beauty sleep, Alexa hadn't even woken me up yet," I wanted to smack the person's hands away and yell at them to go away, but my senses were not yet fully awake and all I could do was to keep yelling at them to go away inside my head while hoping they'd hear the words.
"Wake up pearl," it was Sia's voice and I let my eyes fluttered open slowly only to see her face so close to mine.
I didn't make use of my sleeping mask last night probably because I fell asleep right when my back hit the bed.
"Good morning Sia," I let out lazily before getting up to a sitting position.
"Aren't you going to the office? You'd be late if you don't get dressed in a minute!" Sia exclaimed.
I turned slowly, to look at the time on the table clock on my bedside table and a loud gasp escaped my mouth.
"Shit! I'm late again like always," I scrambled out of the bed and rushed into the bathroom, only to hear a loud shrill from someone who was taking their bath in there.
"Shit! Sorry, Kenzie! " I quickly apologized before leaving and closing the door.
I had forgotten about the fact that I brought them home with me last night.
"Did you find some aspirin for your hangover?" I asked Sia who I saw going over to the kitchen.
"Yeah, I found it on one of the top shelves. I made pancakes I couldn't find where you kept the syrup though," she said opening the lockers and checking to find it.
Sia was the kind of friend who always act like the mom in the group of friends, she was great at looking after the rest of the group of friends, so I wasn't really surprised that she was already up and had made breakfast.
"It's in the left locker by the sink," I said coming over and bringing it out of the locker.
"Aren't you supposed to have a hangover soup, would you be okay eating pancakes?" I pointed because I know it might cause her to feel nauseous.
"I have a leftover hangover soup in the fridge I could help you microwave it," I said bringing it out of the fridge and setting it on the kitchen table.
"Oh, I only made the pancakes for you, since you never battle with hangovers," she said and got out a soup bowl and dished out enough soup for both her and Mackenzie before putting in the microwave.
"You should eat it quickly before it gets cold, then you can take your bath after Mackenzie is done," Sia said pointing to the hot and fluffy pancakes that filled my nostrils with its great sweet aroma.
I sat on the kitchen stool after making myself a cup of coffee and started to eat without bothering to brush my teeth first.
I know I'm probably not the only one person in the universe who has one of those days where they do things in a reverse manner, like eating before brushing or putting on perfume before taking a bath. So I don't exactly feel too weird doing what I was doing.
"Did you brush your teeth?" Sia asked with wide eyes and I only smiled at her, mouth close and cheeks rising to meet my eyes.
"Pearl that's not such a good thing to do!" She scolded, her mom instinct kicking in, I'm sure Sia would make a great Mom without even putting in much effort.
I think she was like this because she had to bring up her two siblings all by herself after her mom passed away, and she was the only grown-up who could look after them.
"I'll brush after eating," I said with a mouth full of pancakes.
I finished stuffing my mouth with the whole plate of the pancake before going to take my bath.
When I was done with taking my bath I came out and started to look for clothes that I was going to wear to the office. I end up settling with blue jeans with a black tank top and a black sneaker.
"Sia, Makenzie don't you guys need to change your clothes? I'm sure they smell of alcohol?" I called out to them from my room.
I checked my wardrobe and tried to find a shirt or top of mine that might fit them since we were all slightly different in the sizes we wear.
I wasn't entirely skinny but I wasn't meaty either, Mackenzie was Skinner than I am and Sia was a little meatier than the two of us.
I found one of my oversized shirts for Sia and got out a pink long sleeve shirt for Mackenzie and they both quickly changed into it before we left for the office.
We arrived a few minutes late but not too late.
"There's a board meeting today," Sia said when we got into the elevators.
"Really what about it?" I and Mackenzie asked her looking at her with curiosity filled in our eyes.
"The CEO is retiring and making his son take over so I think that what the meeting is probably going to be about," Sia said and we both raised our eyebrows as if to say how does she know all this news but she didn't say anything more.
"I heard he's some rude jerk ass," Mackenzie pointed out and we both laughed.
Mackenzie was always the one to bring in rumours that doesn't make any sense, while Sia is one who brings in useful information, and I'm in charge of listening to every news they have to share.
I wasn't really concerned about the new CEO we were getting supposing it doesn't affect my work, or the project we were working on, because I really want the project to turn out great and also to be sold pretty well.
I used to like the fact we had a very good and mature person as the CEO, someone who doesn't make irrational decisions like all those young guys who only cared about their reputation and not the company or the employees.
However, I guess the Era of having a mature CEO was already over and now I would have to hope that he would just be a responsible person.
Sia and Mackenzie got off the elevator first after the doors slid opened and just when I walked out of the elevators and was about to take a turn, but I only ended up bumping into something hard, making me stager a little.
I raised my head slowly to see what had bumped into, because I don't remember ever seeing any wall or doors there since I started to work there, and what I saw left me completely breathless...
"Luna," a grutal voice said out loud making my forehead cringe at the word.
