Chereads / Twisted Destiny: The Alpha King's Mate / Chapter 20 - More than my life

Chapter 20 - More than my life

Nathaniel got ready for the day.

He hadn't caught an ounce of sleep the whole night. His mind replayed the words of the alpha over and over again like a broken record.

Satisfied with his looks, he emerged from his room. Following the sweet aroma in the air, he got to the dining room filled with wolves.

Six in counting. He halted for a moment and examined the room. Lana and Axel, we're setting the table while Daegan and some other woman whose name he didn't know we're flipping the pancakes.

Two other wolves were by the coffee maker silently chatting with each other. They appeared like a normal family, if anyone were to see them, they could be fooled by the scene. Unaware of the monstrous creatures that hide underneath their bright smiles.

"The cute ones here," Nathaniel was drawn to the familiar voice from the other entrance to the room. Koran stood by the door with both his hands on his waist.

"Since when are you cute?" Axel teased.

"When did I say I was cute?" Koran fired back. "You did just now," Axel retorted.

"No, I didn't," Koran defended.

"If you didn't then who did?" Daegan inquired.

"Mirror mirror on the wall," they all heard coming from behind Koran. Straining their eyes to find the one talking, curiosity drove them to pay all their attention to the door. "Who is the cutest one of them all," Omar made his presence known.

Wearing a bright smile on his face. "Did you miss me?" he raised a question.

"Omar!" they all uttered in unison.

Lana sprinted to her feet and raced over to him. Taking the chance to tightly wrap her arms around him. Omar caught her and returned the hug.

"I can't believe you are here. We all missed you so much," Lana admitted.

"Don't hog him, Lana. Let the rest of us have a piece of him too," The lady next to Daegan spoke out.

Lana broke the hug and glared at the girl. However, she obeyed and gave him space to greet everyone else.

Omar gazed directly at Daegan. Nathaniel watched Omar with interest. Following his interaction with Noam the previous night. Omar became a person of interest in the half-demon's eyes.

"Don't I get a hug or is sweet Lana the only one who missed me?" he asked.

Reagan stepped up. He gave Omar a friendly hug and turned to head back to the table when Omar grabbed his arm. "Why is it that everyone is hell-bent on making me feel unwanted here?" he questioned.

The room went dead silent.

Everyone shot angry gazes at Koran. The young man raised his arms in the air in surrender. "I haven't done anything," he let out. "I swear," he added seeing the suspicious eyes they all cast on him.

"Am I not handsome anymore," Omar inched closer to Daegan with his question? He leaned in closer to the male, his lips ghosting a breath away from Daegan's. "Give me an answer," he demanded.

Nathaniel watched the display before him. Unsure how to react to it. After watching Omar with Noam the previous night, he was under the impression that the two were together.

Daegan drew a sharp breath. Standing still like a statue gazing into Omar's eyes. Feeling his words caught in his throat. He tensed.

"Am I not even worth an answer?" Omar questioned his smile into a frown. He twirled his body around and marched heading out of the room.

No one moved to stop him.

"You are the most handsome man in the whole wide world. And anyone who says otherwise needs their eyes checked," A childish voice sounded before Noam appeared in the room.

In a flash, he was standing in front of Omar with a locket in his hand. Omar seized the locket hastily from his hand. "Nur fisa luwet kar," he read out the words written on the back.

"More than my life," Noam translated the words. "That's how much you mean to me," he confessed in a soft melodic voice. Unlike his usual manly deep smokey hoarse voice.

"How romantic," Lana spoke happily. She wrapped one hand over Omar's shoulder and cupped his cheeks lovingly. "He apologized, cheer up now," she nudged him.

"I have a right to my anger, Lana. This necklace doesn't change the fact that he brought his mate here," Omar let out in anger. Despite his words, he kept the locket tucked away in his pocket.

"Wait what?"

Lana and everyone else was astounded by the news. None of them were aware that Noam's mate was in the building. Or her identity.

They threw curious eyes at Omar for some answers. "Who is my brother's soulmate?" Lana inquired from Omar. Asking Noam would be futile, he wouldn't spill no matter how much she would press him.

"I am. I am his soulmate that other person is just an inconvenience that Noam should get rid of as soon as possible," Omar stated his eyes never tearing away from Noam. "If you don't get rid of him. I will," he declared getting out of Lana's hold.

He went ahead and hooked his hand around Daegan's arm. "I'm hungry, Dae. What does an irresistible man have to do to get food around here," he let out changing the topic.

"Noam's mate is a man?"

Lana's words resonated in the air.

"I'm not hungry," Noam uttered.

"Get rid of him or I will make you bleed without even laying a finger on you," Omar threatened. "Don't forget I'm your greatest weakness," he reminded the alpha.

His closeness to Daegan made Noam's blood boil. He exited the room as he no longer could stand watching Omar hold on to Daegan so tightly.

"Let's get you fed," Daegan pulled out a chair for Omar. Everyone joined in on the table.

Nathaniel watched from the sidelines how everyone at the table was pampering Omar. The man was a mystery to him, he was unheard of and didn't seem like a part of the pack. Yet he commanded so much affection from everyone. As though he was the king himself.

Nate was a little jealous, especially with how fond Lana was of him. 'I hope one day you can find your way to me, Lana.'
