(From Demetrius's Perspective)
The banquet was full of people. I knew it would be exhausting, but now, it was more exhausting than I thought. I was tired of the noise and needed a break. Dion was too silent, possibly too surprised to be in a new environment. He was in my arms, clinging to me as if his life depended on it.
He felt so vulnerable and little. I hugged him tightly. This child would always depend on me to save him from everything else. It made my chest heavy. He needed me. I had never truly thought about it like this.
"It's okay, buddy. Daddy is here," I whispered to him.
"Is he scared?" Blue asked.
"We need to go and take our seats. Maybe he will relax then," I said.
"Want to drink? Evan said he has watermelon juice prepared for the party because of me," Blue said.
"Good for you," I rolled my eyes.
"What?"
"What?" I repeated
"I don't like your tone."
