"And you expect that sword skills could do what arrows and daggers cannot?" Verinia took the dagger he was holding, and pinched the blade between two fingers. It was surprisingly heavy, but that only made for a more reliable blade.
"It's always good to learn."
She considered his offer silently for a moment. It was true that it wouldn't hurt her to know another skill, and she couldn't expect Sur Ka'iser to teach her when he had explicitly said that he would not. "When would we begin?"
He smiled, relieved. "Tonight."
The First Princess looked at him strangely. "Why not now?"
"Because, Your Sovereign Highness, you're in need of sustenance." From beneath his cape, he produced a small cloth bundle. Upon opening it, a piece of bread had been slashed in the middle and filled with cut meat, cheese and vegetables. "You cannot train without eating first."
