Graceful Consort Aredna sneered in her heart but did not dare to let her feelings show on her face. If she did, then it would only be fatal for her.
"If Third Highness' heart was cut out, but his other innards were left behind, then yes."
The courtiers murmured amongst themselves as she formed a fist and held it out in front of her.
"The heart provides the life force for spirits to possess new hosts. If my estimation is correct, the spirit that inhabited Third Prince has been transferred to a new host already. The beating heart will then be eaten by the new host to ingest their raw life force and feed the spirit until they are able to feed from a new provider."
With this explanation came a new wave of worry.
If the spirit could be transferred from body to body, host to host, then, could there be someone else, perhaps amongst them, who was hosting a spirit?
