On that platter was a cup with a thick cloth cover over the mouth to preserve the heat of whatever was inside of it. From the words Eva had said, it was most likely a medicinal brew from the apothecary.
Verinia sat up in her bed and received the cup with pale hands, her draping sleeves revealing soft cloth. Her wrists were bandaged because of the tears that had been left behind by the rope binds that she had ripped her way out of.
After feigning near death for a day and a night, she had been forced to lay in her bed until making a 'full recovery'. Apparently her breath and heartbeat were still so 'weak' that any unnecessary action or reception of outside events would be fatal.
