Chapter 3 - Commander's Quarters

A door chime sounded, something still new to everyone. Dalton jumped slightly at the sudden noise that roused him from his thoughts. 'So it's that time already', he thought sullenly. 'I probably should include him, being the lead engineer on this and all, but I just can't bring myself to do it, he doesn't deserve that degradation.' Quickly snapping out of his internal aside he thought the activation sequence for his door comm and said "Come in."

As Kade walked in he glanced around the room, Dalton sat at his desk, slightly reclining while looking deep in thought. He gestured to a seat that came up out of the floor when he flicked a switch. "Please sit down Kade, there's a lot we need to talk about" As Kade strode calmly yet confidently to the seat, switching off his mag heel and "falling" into the seat, he only said "Yes we do."

Kade and Dalton sat staring at one another for a few while each one tried to think about how to start this conversation, none of it was quite fun for either, they were actually in the same age range during education, so they knew one another quite well and could even have been said to be acquaintances if not friends. Neither wanted this silent frustration to go on any further, and wanted to come to terms. "You know it's not fair to mouth off to me in front of everyone just because you're not wrong," Dalton sighed. Kade, looked away and sighed himself, "I apologize for that, I shouldn't have let my frustration get the better of me in that situation, I just want to get moving, we're so close to our resources here in the Jovian shell running out and the other shells can't support us. We can't even get enough power because the dyson remnant is on the other side of the sun and the sun itself is blocking any attempt to contact.
