Chapter 35 - TKWTR 035

Duke Carbell laughed loudly then took off the Carbell family crest pendant he was wearing as a necklace and put it together with Erica's family crest pendant on the table.

"I can only say yes if you wish, Grand Duchess. So what are we going to fight in this title fight?"

Rowena seemed to think for a moment even though she wasn't thinking about anything at all. "I heard you have a new poison collection from Edelle. How about we fight with it?"

"Sounds interesting. I agree with your offer. What are the rules?"

"The rules are very simple. We will both make a strong poison potion and then you will drink my potion and vice versa. Whoever dies from the potion will be declared defeated," explained Rowena.

Duke Carbell smirked. He was amazed by Rowena's courage. "I didn't expect you to be this bold in risking your own life, Your Highness the Grand Duchess."

Rowena replied to Duke Carbell with a sly smile. "Of course. Life doesn't really mean much to me. Let's get started."

Prince Helios and Cecille are taken aback when Rowena mentions the rules of the game. Prince Helios understands that Rowena is a woman who has extraordinary powers. But when it comes to dealing with poison, Prince Helios is still not sure about it.

"Do you realize that what you're doing right now is putting your life at risk? Don't you think what I should say to Damian and Cedric when I get home?" Prince Helios whispered.

Rowena stared intently at Prince Helios. "Shut up, Helios! You just have to be quiet and pay attention."

Duke Carbell also led them to a very dark dungeon. Rowena, Prince Helios, and Cecille followed the man from behind quietly. Arriving there Duke Carbell immediately lit the candles around the room so it wasn't too dark.

After the candle is lit, it can be seen that there are lots of shelves there. On each shelf there are many glass bottles consisting of various sizes and types that are arranged very neatly and there is not even the slightest bit of dust on the shelves. Each bottle contains a potion that has a different color.

"Can we get started, Duke Carbell?" Rowena asked.

"Of course, Your Majesty the Grand Duchess," Duke Carbell replied with a smirk.

Duke Carbell immediately started his action. He took an empty glass and started mixing the several bottles of poison potion that were there into one. Likewise with Rowena who was going around looking for poison potions on the shelves there while holding a glass cup.

After finding the poison she wanted, Rowena immediately put the poison into her glass glass. Rowena only mixes three types of poison into a glass so that the resulting concoction becomes milky white and odorless. In contrast to Duke Carbell who kept mixing poison potions incessantly into his glass until the potions in his glass turned black and smelled bad.

Now it was time to decide, Duke Carbell gave Rowena the glass and vice versa. Because it was Rowena who challenged Duke Carbell first, it was Rowena who had to drink the poison in the glass first. Without further ado, Rowena took a sip of the foul-smelling poison.

Within five minutes there was no reaction after Rowena finished the poison. Now it was Duke Carbell's turn to take a sip of the poison potion that was in his glass cup. Rowena smirked at that. In just two minutes after Duke Carbell drank the poison potion he immediately coughed up blood. In addition, his eyes were also bleeding. The man immediately fell limp on the ground.

Rowena walked over to him and lifted his chin. "You're too stupid, Duke Carbell. Since you're going to die soon, I'll just tell you one thing about those poisons you've been so proud of."

"These poisons that come from Edelle have one important secret, which is if you mix a poison that has a high dangerous level with a poison that has a high dangerous level as well then the poison content in the mixture will decrease by 50% or disappear. But if you mix poison with a low level of dangerous poison with a poison that has a low level of danger as well, then the result is that the mixture will be a very lethal poison, more lethal than poison that has a very high level," explained Rowena.

Right after Rowena finished speaking, the Duke immediately died from blood loss. Prince Helios and Cecille were taken aback by what had just happened. Rowena suddenly bleeds from her mouth as if it was caused by the poison she drank just now. Prince Helios immediately approached her and took a handkerchief from his trouser pocket and wiped the blood that kept flowing from Rowena's mouth.

Rowena smiled at Cecille who was looking at her with a worried look. "Now you're free from this miserable hell, Cecille."

Cecille immediately trotted over to Rowena and knelt in front of her while holding Rowena's right hand. Cecille began to shed tears. They are not tears of sadness but tears of joy. "Thank you, Grand Duchess. From now on I, Cecille Fortune de Carbell, will give my body, soul, and life to you alone."

"Get up, Cecille. I only have one request for you."

"What is it, Your Majesty?" Cecile asked.

"Actually the Emperor gave me a new residence for me but I still don't have a butler. My brother said he would choose a butler for me but I refused because I needed an honest and competent butler. So are you willing to be my butler? Although it seems like this position is a bit bad for a duke's daughter like you." Rowena offered.

"Of course I will, Your Majesty. I will gladly serve as your butler regardless of my title of being Duke Carbell's daughter," Cecille replied with a hint of joy.

Rowena smiled a little at that. Then she took the pendant of her family crest and the pendant of the Carbell family crest that Prince Helios was holding after the blood in his mouth stopped flowing. Now the Carbells belonged to Rowena. Whoever became the next Duke Carbell had to get Rowena's approval for every move he made.

Rowena, Prince Helios, and Cecille immediately left the Carbell residence. The three of them returned to the Squella residence for a while. Rowena was sure that news would soon spread about her usurping Carbell's power among the nobles.
